Is The Market Slow At The Moment?

I've had my house up for sale for about 6 weeks now and I haven't even had a viewing!

I've spoken to my EA and they say that the market is dead, people are waiting to see what happens to the exchange rate...is this right?

My house is realistically priced and in a popular area...I can't understand why I've had no viewings.

It's on Rightmove, has been advertised in the local press and is in the EA window.

The photographs leave a lot to be desired (are terribly dark) and this is the second attempt from the EA...I've even taken some myself but they refused to use them!

I get the feeling that the EA aren't trying as hard as they might do but they keep on saying that they can't change the market.

    No offence taken :-)

I think I need to change agent but I wanted a second opinion.

I think I'll try a friend and see what happens!

Some of those photographs are awful. They make the place look tiny and cramped. That would put me off viewing it. Also the angles some are taken at very very peculiar.

WHy don't you ask the agent what's going on in your particular market?

Unhappily, London is still quite strong - although there is more supply coming on right now.

But yes, I've heard the NE of England is pretty cold right now.

House looks OK, but as an outsider, that major road nearby would give me cause for concern.

Have you considered painting the lounge/diner a lighter colour? possibly magnolia.

It looks a little dark in there, and the light colour will make the room seem bigger.

The pictures are not good and there are too many of them. The kitchen looks nice but the living and dining room are very dark. I would only have one picture of each or maybe even just a picture of the living room. Another agent might do much better pictures which could make a big difference. Saying that I would still expect at least one or two viewings by now. We didn't get many viewings ourselves, 4 in 3 months but luckily sold to viewer number 4 just recently. Would you consider painting the living areas cream?
  • how tall was your estate agent ? the pictures look like they were taken from a crane!!!
seriously though, redo the pictures and all will be fine i'm sure. If you can see past the poor pictures it looks like a lovely house.

yes that makes everything look smaller. It is best to take the pics from about 4 feet off the ground
