    is this an ex-work machine?

if you have the xp pro cd (see dell system restore), it would probably faster and more effective to backup and reinstall than clear out 8 years worth of accumulated bloat - ask toolbar, bt broadband, bt homehub, coupon printer, defender, browserprotect, google toolbar/earth/update, kodak/canon, modem xxx, myway, mysearch, delta, addlyrics, nectar, rapport, realplayer, smileybar, otto, tooltips, sonic update, yontoo, gemmaster, aro, pc performer, citrix etc.

what is your commit charge peak and installed ram from task manager, which model of machine is it

Go to start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs.
Click each of these in turn and click Remove. Reboot wherever prompted. If any fail to uninstall, simply move on to the next one.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307895

    AddLyrics
    Ask Toolbar
    BrowserProtect
    Delta Chrome Toolbar
    Delta toolbar
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
    Mozilla Firefox (1.0.6)
    MyWay Search Assistant
    Smiley Bar for Facebook
    Support.com Toolbar Updater
    Updater Service
    Yontoo 2.04.1

When you've uninstalled the above, do the following.

Download AdwCleaner from the link below & save it to your desktop.

    LINK

    Then,
    • Double click AdwCleaner.exe to run it.
    • Click Delete.
    • Click OK to the prompt.
    • The tool will run & your computer will be rebooted automatically. A logfile will open after the restart.
    • Post the contents of the logfile with your next reply.
    • You can also find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[s1].txt.

As closed said, better to format and start a fresh especially with an install date of 2005, the registry would be bloated aswell.
move your data to another drive, even a flash drive.
do a system restore using restore cd/dvd
    reinstall your software.
    then do a windows update.

to do the above i estimate 45min for window xp install if that was from a normal fresh install not from system recovery format. 3minutes per your programs, and a couple of hours for the windows update and your system would be more responsive.

uninstalling the software, 3-4minutes per application + reboots, would leave files behind, a bloated registry, and may end being more hassle.

am still getting the message "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?
It's a security setting in Internet Explorer.
when I clink on a link on a website it says its blocked by popup. Obviously I dont want all pop ups so do I just leave it at that?
Hold the Ctrl key when clicking to override. If this becomes sufficiently annoying you can alter its behaviour from within Internet Options.
Also when I print sometimes I get a list of all my favourites at the side - how can I make this go away?
    Options:
    • Click on the star-shaped icon with the word Favorites next to it
    • Hold Ctrl+Shift and tap I until it goes away
    • Go to View/Tools>Explorer Bars.*
how can I set up to auto fill out my name and address?

    ***** [Internet Browsers] *****
    -\\ Internet Explorer v8.0.6001.18702
    [OK] Registry is clean.
    -\\ Google Chrome v25.0.1364.152
*If neither View nor Tools are visible, right-click the place you'd normally see them and select either Menu Bar for the former or Command Bar for the latter.

Do I delete dds, attach & ADW cleaner or just leave them on my desktop?
Re-run DDS and post a new dds.txt as you did before so I can check other things are gone.

    For AdwCleaner:
    • Double click AdwCleaner.exe to run it.
    • Click Uninstall.
    • Click Yes to the prompt.
AdwCleaner will close and uninstall itself
If AdwCleaner prompts you an update is available, click Cancel and continue to uninstall it.

am still getting the message "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?
As Tanglefoot said, it's a security warning. His link recommended you Enable mixed content. That potentially makes you browsing sessions with IE less secure. As you use it for Internet Banking I would Disable mixed content.

You can take the test here to see: http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Browser/MixedContent/Default.html
(Follow the link to "try the demo anyway with your current browser")

Then see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee264315(v=vs.85).aspx - "Suppressing the Mixed Content Warning (for End-users)"

Also when I clink on a link on a website it says its blocked by popup. Obviously I dont want all pop ups so do I just leave it at that?
You can change the settings in IE by clicking tools > popup blocker > popup blocker settings. Look at Notifications and blocking level.

P.S. I've been on the computer for about an hour now and it is so much faster and havent had it freeze once - touch wood.

Still on the computer - an hour later and I'm starting to love my computer again. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
    No problem. :)

Maybe I'm opening too many things at once but I have them minimised at the bottom of the screen so I can flit from one to the other.
Yes, there's only so much you can do before you need to look at upgrading the RAM. You can get an idea of what you could get here: http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/
I'm sure ther's other stuff we can disable as well though.
Should I remove the adw cleaner or leave it there and run it every now and then?
You can uninstall AdwCleaner. Run it again and choose uninstall.
Was the print out I obtained after the adw cleaner okay?
The DDS log was the same one you posted before, so it's hard to tell. Delete any DDS.txt logs you see and run DDS again - post the new log.
