Rac breakdown cover with either cashback or a £50 fuel card

Ok, so TCB follow the RAC link and quote for personal cover with breakdown and recovery (which covers you as a passenger or driver in ANY vehicle).

You get added a £50 fuel card (which is redeemed quarterly online at £12.50/qrtr and is issued by a prepaid card.)

The quote comes to £79.99 minus the TCB cashback of £25.25, minus the £50 free fuel equates to a net cost of £4.74 for breakdown AND recovery home or to a garage for 1 year.

Got to be piece of mind in anyones book for a fiver.

Offer valid till 30th April

You have to pay this in one instalment annually so you have to pay the initial £79.99 (can't do this specific offer monthly) but do it by D/D and remember to cancel the D/D after your fourth quarter £12.50 fuel claim so they don't auto-renew.

    Thank you.

If you go through topcashback make sure you file a higher rate claim and quote quidco as they are offering £30 for policies between £40-£100 if paid up in one payment. Topcashback should give you £30.30.

If that works then correctly then you will have effectively a free policy.

Or if you go through Quidco, or if topcashback will match, if you also add the home start too making the policy £104.99 with free full voucher you would get £60 cashback and £50 fuel voucher effectively paying you £5.01 to have cover with them.

    EDIT -

Actually it may be worth clarifying with RAC before ordering, but the terms seem to suggest you cannot use a cashback site if you want the fuel card.

1 Free fuel offer significant terms and conditions
RAC pre-paid Visa debit card offer is only open to new RAC Breakdown members purchasing Personal Based Roadside & Recovery or above on annual continuous payment and new RAC Car Insurance customers purchasing an annual policy between 20th February & 30th April 2013 direct from RAC. Offer not available via price comparison, voucher or cash back websites.

What do you think this means? Can't have fuel if getting cashback?

Free Fuel Vouchers are NOT available for fulfilment via cashback or voucher affiliate

Won't work - in the T&Cs on the top cashback page it says
Free Fuel Vouchers are NOT available for fulfilment via cashback or voucher affiliate.
And then when you click through, expand the more information link on the fuel offer, and it states
Offer not available via price comparison, voucher or cash back websites
You can have either the cashback, or the fuel card - but not both.

Ooh missed that, that's a ****er, I'll have to cancel the joint policy I just took out and open two separate ones for me and the missus on the fuel card alone then.

Took the RAC cover via Quidco in December and still haven't received the cashback of £45.00, even though they are meant to be a 'Faster Paying' company - May be worth going for the fuel card instead!

But they'll say you're not a new customer so you wont qualify.

Can you modify your title please as it's rather misleading now as you can only have one or the other offer with this so it doesn't equate to £4.74 a year.

OP I see you are online ATM but still haven't amended. The reason Rebeccaj took the time and trouble to post this is so that dozens of people (like me) don't have several minutes of their time wasted.
Oh, and it's 'peace of mind'.
  • have to agree with rebeccaj and kernal sanders, the title is very misleading and you've wasted my time too :(

No wonder there's a recession with all this wasted effort! :money:
