    Hello Everyone,

Go gentle with me, it's my first time posting!

I have just recieved the RAC visa card preloaded with £12.50 (when activated). It was issued as a goodwill gesture by RAC as they messed up when I joined their breakdown cover scheme.

I thought it would be simple.... use the £12.50 preloaded on the card and then put the card away and never use it again OR cancel the account. I havent activated the card yet. Having read the T&C's, it says "the card distributor will reload the card from time to time". It also says "£2 per month admin charge".

Can anyone make sense of the above two quotes? I'm not sure why it says they'll reload it. Is there a monthly £2 charge for simply having this card??

    Many thanks in advance!

Got my new RAC card yesterday detailing the autorenew price. Started above £200, then a member's discount resulting in £134/per yr for personal cover. Looked online and with the cover I wanted down to £107 for a new member also it had an online discount of around £80 included. Quidco were offering a discount of £52 for premiums above £101 so I could get a year's policy this way for around £55! Called the RAC on their cancelling option. Very unhelpful! Stated be careful with cashback sites as they don't always pay out...... I said even without using it I could get a policy for less than my renewal and already I had been refunded over £450 by using them. She was very uncooperative and said she could look and see what she could do. (actually she should have done this regardless to put me in the picture but she didn't) I told her to cancel the autorenewal and I would apply through quidco. I did and my renewal was to start 26/09 so I set it to start 24/09 as for 24 hrs it is roadside cover only. This way it overlaps by a day with my existing policy so there is no reduction in my cover. £55/yr! Taking the personal cover means any car I am in is eligible. I use it for two of my cars and it works out much cheaper than 2 car-based policies. One of these is a classic car so could be likliest to need the cover though historically it has only failed to start once when I accidentally left the lights on in a carpark.... so that was my fault! I have a new car which has warranty cover, full AA etc etc so that doesnt need a breakdown policy of its own though it crossed my mind should it require a call to 'phone both the RAC and AA and see who gets there quicker then cancel the other.... A bit cheeky I guess though hoping never to have to call either lol. On reflection I guess the RAC's apathy when I called to not bother them too much as I still paid them money, albeit far less than they wanted me to. Something's better than nothing.... for them, but for me something's better than 2.7 times or so what I could have paid!
