That's beautiful! If you like it, get it

It's a stunning dress so I'd go for it! I think far too many people bow to tradition these days and I'd find it very refreshing to see a bride who chose not to wear white.0

As many have said, it's your day - go for it. That's my ususal answer to these types of questions.
However...My friend wants to wear a green dress. I'm trying to convince her to wear white because she will look beautiful in a white dress and can wear a green dress on her honeymoon or to a speacial anniversary dinner, or a fancy New Year's Eve ball...
Have you tried on any white dresses yet? Do and see how you feel. Also - when are you getting married? Black will look less imposing (? right word?) in winter, but perhaps out of place in the summer sun?0 -
That's as stunning dress .I tell my children try to be a shepherd not the sheep my point being don't follow the crowd or their ideas go your own route and be different.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

That's a strange thing to say, why would you wonder why? Surely individuality is the reason why?

I just think it strange to wear for a wedding dress a colour which in this country symbolises mourning.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Hi
I was going to have a Black Dress , In fact i wanted a Gothic style one as there are so many Beautiful ones out there. The only reason I didnt was because we got married in Florida and I felt I would be even hotter.
Have the dress you want and fall in love with , you are only going to do it once0 -
Hi everyone
I'm getting married in Jan 2014, and currently starting to look for a dress.
I went to the National Wedding Show on Friday and saw a gorgeous dress on the catwalk....but it's black!!!
I think this is it, if not it is very similar:
Honestly guys - what would you think about a black wedding dress? I know it's my decision, but I guess I'm a bit worried what people might think as it is sooooo different!
And not sure it would go with my existing colour scheme, so might have to make some changes - currently thinking of silver and aubergine/dark purple....Thanks
You wear what you want to wear, what you are comfortable wearing, are you really bothered what others will think! It is after all your day (and the grooms day).
As for the colour scheme I guess it depends if you have already started or just in the planning stage, but nothing is unchangeable just may be a bit more costly!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

I think it's beautiful and you should go with what you want to wear. It's your day and you want to feel beautiful, stuff what everyone else thinks! Why should there be a prescribed colour for a wedding dress?
Only thing I would say is be sure it's what you want so you don't one day mourn not wearing a white dress.
A friend of mine wants a black wedding dress and mine was red with white detailing (didn't get to wear it in the end though!).Go for what you like, what suits you and what makes YOU feel special. If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
It's a beautiful dress.
I wore a dark purple evening dress as I am not a "big white wedding" kind of girl. No one even questioned it, they all just said how beautiful it was and how lovely I looked.
It is a day to do as you and your OH want IMO, not to worry what everyone else thinks!0 -

I think perhaps newer generations don't necessarily make the same associations that were once traditionally seen as the norm by older generations?
I think the black dress looks lovely but I have to admit to hoping my daughter wears white.Herman - MP for all!0
