My local aldi initially said these had sold out within the 1st hour. I asked ystrdy if they had anymore, and they said they didnt recieve any in the first place - nowhere did due to supplier problems.

Hmmm, i'm sure some of you got yours from Aldi, which means they have gone to some stores.............

If you've got a Mac don't get the Hauppauge Nova-T (won't work) In fact Having used the Nova T and a Dec 2000T on XP I'd say avoid Hauppauge tv products altogether - the software is terrible.

I've got an Elgato Diverstiy (admittedly £100) but when I'm at home I can connect it to an aerial splitter and watch or record two channels at once. When away from home you can combine the signals from the two small aerials to improve your signal. Works a treat :) and the software is how it should be done.

I've read somewhere that this will work on a mac using the eyetv software, and apparently works better than under windows, but I don't have the link to had sorry
  • I bought 2 of these on Thursday 10 and were installed on a Vista laptop and an XP pc. I live in London and picked up 50 or so channels. The signal with the supplied aerial is showing at full strength. The software is excellent and there is an option to pause and rewind live TV like Sky plus. Even the photo slide show works brilliantly with a pan and scan transition.

Well that's the good news!! - the bad is that the software has corruipted both my DVD writer and DVD Rom drives (on both XP and Vista machines) I did a System Restore to just before installing the Arcsoft software and all was well again. I reinstalled the sotware and lost use of the 2 drives again.

It's now permanently uninstalled untill I find a solution.

Any thoughts before I take then back for a refund would be much appreciated as they are such good value I would like to try and find a solution.

Re the USB Memory stick. I was told that they didn't get them in. I looked at the Toshiba website and it looks like they were not Vista compatable. As many people would have bought them with the £450 laptop (I saw 10 being sold whilst I was in the queue). Maybe Aldi pulled them as they would have a few disgruntled customers.

    Regards

    Dave

Unless these Aldi USB TV tuners have been improved greatly (they look identical), then I wouldn't bother with one (see my previous post - number 27).

In the end I bought one of these and it works very well... and no PC or laptop lock-ups! It was actually the third USB TV tuner that I tried.

You still need to position the small aerial well to receive all the Freeview channels, but I've found that you always receive some channels - regardless of how and where the aerial is positioned.

I got one of these last time round. It was very poor with the tiny aerial but excellent when connected to the main house aerial. Unfortunately when connected to the main house aerial there was severe interference on the big TVso it was either one or the other
