How are you feeling today? x
Thank you for asking I am average but average for me is perhaps pretty grim for normal healthy folks
My wife (also my carer) is out of action with a bug and at times like this a variety of challenges are raised. Not only getting my 'grub' but also feeding my wife. But with the help of a Tesco home delivery, at the onset of her going down, and a very nice Tesco delivery driver taking everything into the kitchen. He realised I couldn't walk well, or bend over, so he left all the bags on the worktops.
The other effect on those who can't walk far (me a few yards or on really good days a few dozen yards) is that when your carer is out of action you are forced into staring at the four walls of your house. So my laptop becomes so important to me & a bit of 'net twitching' :T.
But how are you doing, or not, or should I say how is everyone doing, or not :eek:0 -
Oh no sorry to hear about your wife being poorly, do hope she is back on her feet again soon xx
Yes it's very hard when the carer gets ill as well, people so under estimate the strain it puts on the everyone. The interweb is a great way of keeping occupied as well
Where would we be without home deliveries, I feel sorry for people in rural areas who can't get them. My Dad after my step-mum passed away would never have survived without Wiltshire Farm Foods, they are very good and bring it in and put it in your freezer. Nice food as well, small portions but much nicer than a lot of ready meals. He had never had to cook for himself before!! So at 76 it came as a bit of a shock
bless him.
I'm fine and thanks for asking, putting the world to right at lunch time with some friends (just for a change!)
We sat outside for a bit so that was nice, is starting to feel a bit more spring like which has got to be good! And the days are getting longer! Won't be long until the clocks go forward.
Hope your wife feels much better soon and you can both get out and about. xxThe most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0 -

Good luck with all of that, there are far too few childminders who offer services to children with special needs.
Are you moving because of this tax? Or is it planned anyway?
I was already planning to move :-) xxx
I try and make my decisions based on my family and what they need rather than the bullying tactics of this current government

Why do you use the word 'scrounger' to describe yourself?
Surely you are just perpetuating the myth that you believe others think of you as a scrounger when they most likely have no such thoughts.
Very weird.
I have been on these forums for many years , even when a deal is posted for reduced priced stamps or bus fares for those on benefit you get the benefit claimants 'hit squad' out in full force complaining about benefit scroungers 'getting it all' and there have been worse words used ie 'parasites' and 'scum' which are not very flattering terms for those in need!
This has been MANY TIMES over the years and have noticed it is getting much much worse since the recession and the poor are targeted as scapegoats for the mess the country is in and for the frustration of others who are suffering but who are currently in work!!
Thankfully my situation is hopefully set to improve , but none of us know what is round the corner regarding our health and life events etc , so I suppose I am sensitive to the fact that I do have loads of potential as do we all , but our circumstances sometimes force us into a position of need and to be called names for it is not nice and rather insensitive
Most people on these forums are supportive and helpful , but not ALL unfortunately and many on other forums and on Facebook seem to see all benefit claimants or those in social housing as 'scroungers' and even 'scum' or other words which people with that type of mindset use unfortunately0 -
There is no doubt in my mind that the government have encouraged the vilification of the poor and disabled since their election. All of a sudden we are the reason everything has gone to pot- not the people avoiding and evading huge amounts of tax, not those taking bonuses yearly that an average person could live comfortably on for 20 years or those running big businesses into the ground to scrape out the last possible penny before going into liquidation and letting down their employees and customers. It's those of us who have been unfortunate enough to be born with something 'wrong' with us, or who are looking after someone with a disability, or who are on the lowest legal wage doing vital jobs who are the problem. We all need to sort ourselves out and become high wage earners, otherwise we have only ourselves to blame.
I shall be putting my husband out into the street to sell pencils for a living while I go out and bootstrap myself into becoming a banker just as soon as I've finished this post. Bye losers!
Love, a carer who currently has post viral fatigue and is beginning to feel the creeping tendrils of despair.
And who is amazed that no one has come into this thread barking 'it's not a tax!!!!' yet.0 -
I'm going to copy and past your post and send it to my MP.
And a <big hug> from me xxThe most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0 -
Thanks.
I do try not to feel sorry for myself, lol!
Anyway, I'm getting the impression you're doing some campaigning etc, so maybe you could pm let me know how I can get involved?0 -
I am always left wondering when people start complaining about others relying on tax credits and so on, how do they think they'd be buying food, having their elderly relatives cared for or their children looked after, getting their hair cut or any of the other things they take for granted if low income workers didn't exist.
We can't all be CEOs or stockbrokers, or even qualified tradesmen. I mean literally, we can't, because the country needs a big percentage of people to be doing the low waged, low status jobs. I'd include carers amongst them. So why are we the bad guys? There is absolutely no way the economy could function without us!0 -
Sorry WW only just seen your post and I'll pm you in a bit
