It's a terrible strain having to cope with it all I know luminated <big hug> don't worry we will keep fighting the fight. When you have paid into the system all your life, you deserve to have help when you need it without all this stress.

We haven't come this far with Disability Rights to be pushed back pre war!

There is the discretionary housing payment they've laid aside for the first year hon. It's mainly for people who need their other room or are in adapted properties. It is as the name on the tin says, discretionary. The daft bit is, if you got someone in overnight to care for you, then you wouldn't have it to pay. Daft innit :/

Yes it is :) which is why the case was joined with Gorry's so we could change the other situations that need changing as well.
Couples affected by ill health who cannot share a bedroom are definately one of the groups we hope to bring in this change for.

Also some couples need 3 bedrooms because they both need a sleep-in carer to look after them. Which is quite cost effective compared to putting them both in homes.

And most importantly it gives them assess to much better quality care, and being able to stay together in their own home whilst still maintaining some control over their own lives.

  • I had a feeling they appealed the decision so that others would not ''follow suit'' and they could block everyones way

That is how I feel under this current government , pushed into a corner by them , with them blocking any way out :(

But I WILL find a way out , for the sake of my FAMILY - the government do not care at all about my family but thankfully I do & will do what it takes to get the life we deserve xx

As the room is for your grandson, can your daughter help pay towards the costs due to it also giving her respite?

Does your daughter claim for respite care from social services?

As you are your grandson's carer, would the carer's allowance help go some way to covering the cost at all?

My daughter gets no respite care from social services because I look after him all the time ( as much as I can because it's an absolute pleasure and joy to me anyway )

The carers allowance goes back to my daughter because she struggles to afford everything he needs ( I know I shouldn't give it 'back' to her , but I feel she can give him what he needs from it )

Plus I just do my best to get him 'little treats' and she gives me money for food etc for when I do have him , he is still in nappies at 5 years old which is common for Autistic children and she has only just started receiving free nappies for him

She really does her best for him and he eats like a little king & has a very good appetite thankfully

She took him to Brighton for half term & they had a lovely time especially @ the aquarium which he absolutely loved as well as the penny arcades which she could not get him out of! lol

I just want to be able to lead a normal family life and for us to enjoy our life without feeling worried and stressed about money which does not look like is going to happen soon!

Once I pass my childminding course , move home , do the extra training & sort my new house out so I can start childminding for children with special needs then things should get better & I know I will enjoy it as well & be happy to be helping out a family as will be charging very reasonable rates as well as putting my heart into it! :):)

( Us 'scroungers' DO contribute to society in the end :) And have had health problems myself which I am slowly overcoming so I can persue my dreams and the job and life I know I will enjoy!! )

That's lovely what you are planning to do :) Good luck with all of that, there are far too few childminders who offer services to children with special needs.

Are you moving because of this tax? Or is it planned anyway?

Why do you use the word 'scrounger' to describe yourself?

Surely you are just perpetuating the myth that you believe others think of you as a scrounger when they most likely have no such thoughts.

    Very weird.
Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.

Because it is between apostrophe's (which give a word a subtly different meaning) it is not meant as per the exact dictionary definition but in a more deprecating type of way is what I feel was meant.
