Good Morning all just hung out the bit of washing I did last night sheets, duvet cover etc and its blowing on the line Yesterday's washing is dry and awaiting my ministrations with the iron (not today that's for sure) Not too warm at the moment, but the sky is brightening up by the minute, and there may even be a tiny bit of sun up there somewhere.

In my conservatory a pot of mini iris that my eldest DGD gave me at Christmas has flowered and looks really spring-like.
I am just about to print up my revised freezer list (hoping there is enough ink in the printer as I know its getting a bit short )
Then its veg prep for the week,I peel all my spuds that I need and put them in a long tuppaware box in water and they go into the fridge.Saves me no end of time during the week I have done this same thing over the past 45 years as peeling spuds are one of my pet hates along with putting the ironing away and taking out the rubbish
What job do you lot hate doing that has to be done but really irritates you. I don't mind ironing as long as I have something to watch on t.v. whilst I'm doing it and

I even quite enjoy cleaning windows (I only do the insides now I have a fine young chap called Jason who comes every four weeks to do all the outsides for £6.00. Great lad he is as well,he had lost his job a couple of years ago, and couldn't find another so he got a leather and a bucket and shank's pony and built up a round for himself .He even has another chap to help him now as he has got quite busy.He also has an estate car to stick his ladder on so he is making a living simply by his own efforts. He charges OAPs £2.00 less that other folk and has more than enough customers and I always recommend him.
Well time to do battle with the printer
Cheers chums have a good day whatever you are doing

    Morning all,

Halight, your still not sleeping. Honestly i wouldnt leave it much longer before you see the GP.

Went shopping yesterday, spent a little more than the £70 i wanted to spend (£84) but i needed to get hubby stocked up for work. There may be another job on the horizon for him that he is really excited about but we will have to see if it comes off. Its been a long time since he's had a positive attitude towards work i hope it continues.

Not many jobs to do today, just the daily vacuuming cause of the dog hairs (but at least they are clean dog hairs:D). I might have a bin bag fling at some point as the bin men come tomorrow.

I'm trying to persuade hubby to chop down one of the conifer trees. Actually, i'm trying to get him to agree to simplifying things in the garden. He comes up with this wild and wonderful ideas and i get left with the upkeep when he's away so ive told him as both of us have mobility problems things have got to change. I have got plans but i know he wont agree to them just yet so i need to get him to come up with the ideas himself. Some of these plans need money so it looks as though i'll be saving to pay for them as unless its for a set of wheels, he wont be interested in paying.

Anyway, less waffle and more action.... have a good day all.

    Hello everyone.

Had a good day yesterday. We went to the Vintage Fair at Bluewater. It's the first time they've held one there. Had a lovely morning browsing the stalls. I don't know why it is, but old stuff is always more interesting than new stuff.

We got a couple of bits for the house and a couple of other bits that will be eBayed.

Then we had a nice lunch, when we came home I dealt with my eBay sales which have been quite good this weekend.

So I was pleasantly tired when I went to bed, and thought I'd sleep well.

Trouble is, when I've been out, as soon as I go to bed, my mind starts to buzz with what I've done. So, of course, I started to think about the vintage fair, but I did go off to sleep quite soon. But then I woke up every hour, on the hour! Even my insomnia doesn't follow the same patterns!

Maybe calming drinks like Ovaltine will help. Either that, or never go out, then my mind wouldn't buzz.

Anyway, extra washing today as I wasn't in to do it yesterday, so that'll mean extra ironing. Will also get a few eBay listings done, as I normally do the bulk of that on Saturdays too.

Dinner is easy - Thai fish cakes from M&S, for a Sunday treat.

    Have a good day.

    Morning all

Sun is out today although it was frosty to start with. Might get washing out on the line. Fingers crossed it'll dry.

Plans today involve going to the cemetery. Have a few people on my mind and feel the need to visit them. The trouble is I run the risk of bumping into my family there which wouldn't go down well. I don't have the right to grieve according to them. Don't blame that for thinking that really. I shouldn't see them in the baby garden where my little boy is so may just hide there. Will get a balloon for ds to put there. He doesn't understand but likes to put a balloon there for him. Hubby will take him to his grandads grave to give me some space.

After that he wants to go for food at an Indian restaurant which does a buffet and he had some money off vouchers. I don't fancy it really but I have to make an effort apparently.

Halight - fingers crossed you get some sleep soon. I'm on sleeping tablets at the mo but not finding them much help. I think I just have too much on ky mind :o btw I think it wad butterfly brain who gave you the recipe...

Anyway must get my skates on. Have gd days everyone

    Morning all,

Had a really busy day yesterday. Cleaned house, washing and cooked a delicious quiche using up leftovers.
Dh emptied the shed and garage and packed the car up for the tip. I've now moved my new little business into the shed, its now been christened Julie's shed:D
This morning I'm going to dye my hair and put all the washing away. Dh has already gone off to the tip and then the driving range. It's his once a month treat.
Will have a houseful later. Ds2 and his gf are cooking Sunday lunch. They are picking up dd and DGS on the way so there will be 7 of us. A lovely family day.
Have given myself a good talking to and am going to get back to healthy eating. I can't run with my rubbish knee but dh has hung the punch bag up in the garage so I'm going to take up boxing at least it's a bit of exercise and I'm hoping to keep my knee stillish.

Halight - thanks for thinking of us all. I'm still a bit peckish after your full breakfast though so I'm going to have a boiled egg...as soon as I get off here and get myself organised ;). Hope the girls enjoy their dancing. My DD and DS went to dancing when they were young and took part on the shows. They loved it.
Another dry day here. Yesterday was sunny (again - how fab!) and we took the car up to the top car park at Arthur's Seat (Edinburgh). Well, not at the top ha ha. Anyway, I sat on a rock and enjoyed the view while DH took our dog for a walk. I'm feeling a lot better now after having a flu type bug that was going round work. It's great to feel your energy coming back.
Bought a turkey leg yesterday and roasting it or braising it for Sun lunch. Have bought some (reduced) Yorkies. Nice and easy and a bit of comfort food.
I watched 2 episodes of Compulsive Cleaners or whatever it's called yesterday. I read about it on here or one of the other threads. It made me put on my glasses and have a look at things like the rim round the side of the work surface in the kitchen - eek. Maybe I should keep my glasses off as it looked perfectly clean without them :D.
JackieO - you asked which job we hate doing. hhmm I am laughing here comparing my pet hate to things like ironing, taking the rubbish out...I hate changing the loo roll! Always have! I remember my dad (yes, decades ago) telling me, seriously, that he was going to show me how to do it:rotfl:. I was in stitches because of course I just didn't like doing it. What's that all about? DH does it here. I just balance the new roll on top.
Bought a wee pot of daffs yesterday for £1 in M0rrisons. They are inside the shiny green pot I had a month or 2 ago with a single hyacinth and looking lovely. Loving all the signs of spring in the park.

Quiet day planned for today and planning to go back to work tomorrow with batteries recharged.
    have a good day all

jackieo. My pet hate is emptying the kitchen bin and I seem to be the only person that is able to do it  I often found it overflowing because people keep forcing stuff into it

I don't like peeling veg either , I like your idea of keeping them in water in the fridge :)
  • Glad you liked the recipe halight x
