Jet2 Fuel Stopover added to Lanzarote return flights...

Hi, have just been informed from Jet2 that they have now increased our 4hr return flight from Lanzarote to Blackpool in August to 6hrs...
I called Customer Services who stated that there will be a stopover for refuelling, not stating where or for how long. Also not taking into account possible delays at stopover airport. Informed them fuel is available in Arrecife Airport... It's obviously a 'cost-cutting' procedure, maybe they should be putting some of their extra cash saved into compensating loyal jet2 customers... Jet2 are still selling these return flights without stating there is a stopover for refuelling, giving the impression that it is a direct flight... Does anyone out there know if we are entitled to a full refund, or compensation?

You are right, it would be much better if they just ran out of fuel half way back.0

I would expect this could be treated the same as a delay to arrival of 14 hours so
If they have given you more than 14 days notice - no compensation
If they have given you less than 14 days notice - no compensation as the 'delay' is less than 3 hours
as far as a refund....if the extra 2 hours is so important to you, you can ask but how would you get back as there do not appear to be any other carriers?0 -
Looks like the issue is a combination of the runway length and the aircraft used, nothing to do with cost cutting. Landing and taking off costs money.0

It sill counts as a direct flight, which is different from a non-stop flight.0 -
As well as air temperature which can affect an aircraft's maximum take-off weight.Looks like the issue is a combination of the runway length and the aircraft used, nothing to do with cost cutting. Landing and taking off costs money.
Was there not a lot of controversy in the media over the last couple of years about luggage being left and passengers off-loaded affecting flights to The Canaries. Seems to me that Jet 2 are acting to prevent this and all the compensation claims that folk would want
As regards fuelling stops, BA operate a business class only service from London City to New York, on the outbound it stops at Shannon in Eire to re-fuel owing the the shorter runway at London City0 -

If your flight time being extended 2 hours makes you this upset, are you sure foreign holidays are for you? Far worse things can, and often do, happen...0 -

I think that sums it up nicely
Guessing this will be another 1 post wonder though0 -
It must be a small plane, perhaps the route isn't popular enough to warrant something bigger. They'll use a lot more fuel performing an extra landing and take off, rather than carrying enough fuel for the whole journey from the off. They'll also need to employ staff for longer, and pay extra landing fees... hardly a way to save money.Glorious12 wrote: »It's obviously a 'cost-cutting' procedure0 -
It must be a small plane,
Only a choice of 3 types: Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-800 (these are still being delivered new) or Boeing 757.
More than likely the 737-300 which is the smallest so may be more limited in the weight it can lift in hot conditions.0 -
Yes it will be a Boeing 737-300, found their summer fleet allocation list0
