    Hi Carol,

Sorry to hear things really have gotten so bad. Like many, I am on this site for help and have been in the same place as you.

Some harsh advice is that your OH needs to step up and get himself the help he needs to be able to function again. I say this as someone who has suffered with depression since mid 1997 so I know what I say is easier said than done.

Also, long shot, but can you not approach your employer and ask for help, maybe a loan over the course of 10 months or so, which can be paid out of your wages each payday? Are you due a pay rise? Maybe uf you were given this, any payments due to be taken by your boss will not have such an impact on your net salary. Tell your boss the whole situation. Are they a company that has outlets/offices in different areas? If so, how about asking for a transfer based on your worries about getting to and from work?

I really do hope you get sorted.

    All the best,

    Steve.
  • Have you tried contacting your local credit union (do an online search to find out if there is one in your area)?
Most, if not all, will consider lending to you even if you have a bad credit score. Also some now do short term loans at a much lower rate than PDL's to give people an alternative to using PDL's.

i'm sorry, but you are enabling your husband if you don't give him a short sharp reality check. does he not know you have to accept charity from friends to eat??? has he seen a doctor? how long would he survive if you didn't take him food?

Edit: reading this back i realise it is harsh, but i feel so mad on your account.

Yup I agree with this, I think you need to take a multi angled approach to this not just financial but also emotional, and asking a doctor to come and see your husband or convince him to go would be a good start.
Your posts say so much to how you must be feeling, and I think you have taken a good positive step posting here, keep the ball rolling, there are some very smart people here who will be able to give so much advice to help you get back on track - which you will in time.

You need to post up a full SOA as soon as possible.
I don't think anyone else has picked up on the fact you said that you are driving without road tax. You are running the risk of a fine with that, which won't help your situation at all.
Also agree that you need to get a bit tougher on your husband, he definitely won't start to get any better if he just stays in bed all day. He needs to push himself and get out of the rut and at least leave the house and get out for a walk and fresh air. It's a cycle he is in and anyone would get worse if they just spent all day, every day in bed.

Carol , my heart goes out to you, You HAVE to get medical help for your husband before he drags you both down, If he was his normal self he would hate the fact that you are having to accept charity from friends in order to eat & driving an unlawful car.

Depression is a physical illness, just like a broken limb, it can be mended if you ask for the help that you need, He will probably be angry if you try to force him to see a doc, so why not go & see the doc yourself first, put him in the picture about hubby.

Think back to how hubby used to be and know that he can be like that again in the future. Its so unfair that youre having to handle all this alone. Take good care of you x
Its just a bad day, Not a bad life ..

Husband is under the doctor and on anti depressant drugs and has been to see Phycoligists (2), goes for the inital meeting with me in tow, he tells them what he wants them to know and I tell them the truth!! He seems to get himself into gear for a short while then falls back again. His brother came around the other week and read the riot act to him that if he didn't sort himself out not only would he lose me but the house to. So far not much movement. I hate Fridays as I just sit in a room on my own. I must be the only person that looks forward to a Monday!

Out of all the companies, I found pounds to pocket to be the best, you pay it back over 12 months as opposed to in one lump sum.
With regards the car tax, you will very shortly (if you haven't already) find a fine drop on your doormat, its now automatic.

Use a benefits checker online to check that you are receiving everything you are entitled to.
I would also strongly suggest posting an SOA, it might help.

    Good luck

still driving with no TAX though. Please don't think bad of me.

No one is thinking badly of you, but honestly, this isn't a good idea. Automatic number plate recognition technology is everywhere these days, and DVLA will start sending penalty notices soon. AFAIK there is an intial charge of £80 + the VED you owe.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
