Pay Day Loans

  • Have you got friends/family to turn too? I have had payday loans and getting out of the cycle is tough. You have all these paynents still to make and you want to borrow which in reality is a false economy over the long term.

Okay, here are my 2 cents.

Forget borrowing from pdl's. Without sounding rude, harsh reality is you can't afford it and you'll push yourself further in debt. Okay friends/family first. 0% interest and they are far more flexible than PDL companies. Infact just lent a mate of mine cash to pay his MOT. He was going to use Wonga until I suggested bank of moomin at 0% interest. He was over the moon.

Also did I read that your partner isn't working? Mystery shopping sites. Earn a few quid for going shoping. It won't give you a lot but the more you do the more can be made. It'll help with food shopping etc.

I can't sau this enough, please don't do PDL's. You'll make your situation worse.

Really sorry to hear about your situation Carol, sorry to hear that you had to succumb to a PDL but you will not get my judgement from me, times are hard at the moment and you are certainly not alone.

How about posting a SOA to see if we could perhaps help you make changes so that you can manage on your wages, it's surprising what a fresh set of eyes can see.

Carol, how are things going ? Is there no way of getting to work without your car. If you lose your license, you will have to get to work with no car, so try and see how you would do that now, before the worst happens.

Dont mean to sound hard, just a thought

    Carol,

It sounds as if you've already done the payday loan thing, and I understand that you feel you were backed into a corner this time. But you need to plan how you're going to pay it back, and the good folks on this board can help you do that.

You need to post a SOA, and then people can help figure out your monthly incomings/outgoings and where the interest payment is going to come from.

I agree with those who say to get your husband over to the 'up your income' boards. Swagbucks is time consuming, but if he's out of work, he's got time. Could he try some odd-jobs? Maybe put an advert in the newsagents window to get a bit of cash for gardening/DIY/carwashing?

I heard they are planning on clamping down on these pay day loan companies, so perhaps there is some glimmer of hope there if the government does decide to take some drastic action of them. I agree with others about getting your OH to get some tips from the up your income boards, every little helps so they say.

Thanks All, But husband 'rock bottom' with severe depression and hides himself away, has been for ages, I kept going for us as best as I can but stuffed now.

He spends the majority of the time in bed and shrugs his shoulders when I try and talk to him. Been there, done that no benefits available, not even prescriptions because I work and no family/friends who will help.

Have you looked on the 'up your income' board? I sit and write reviews in the evening...this in turn gives me amazon vouchers which I use to buy food.

    Hi Carol,

Have you had a look at this:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/balance-transfer-credit-cards?utm_source=MSE_Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=05-Mar-13&utm_campaign=credit-cards&utm_content=178#capone

it's a 0% credit card for poor credit scorers, there is a pre application checker which you can use to see what your chances would be of being accepted before you actually apply for it. You can transfer payday loans onto it apparently.
