halifax monthly £5 reward

Thanks. Okay this might be a dumb question, do standing orders count? I have just set up a standing order to make monthly overpayments to my mortgage. (this is separate from the regular monthly mortgage direct debit)
A Standing Order is not a Direct Debit and therefore does not count towards meeting the requirement of having two DDs.0 -
I know these are hard times but all this fuss/effort over 5 quid a month ? You've probably all used that much up in electricity with the amount of posts/threads on this subject.0

Hello? You're on a money saving forum.
£5 here, £10 there... it all adds up et voila, TV licensing is paid for.
Of course it's not a lot, but there's no effort either.0 -
Bah - I didn't get my £5 this month.
Been getting it for a few years now, but never set up any DDs on the account. This is the first month they have caught up with me.
same here!
thing is i had the 2 DD's (tesco savings) set-up on the account but hadn't made them 'active' so therefore i didn't get the reward!0 -

It is possible that 2 DDs going to Tesco are not considered "2 different DDs" - see discussions elsewhere about the OINs they use to establish what's "different".0 -

Yes I could afford to pay for it anyway, but it feels much nicer when someone else is paying!0 -

It's doubtful, more like 12p, considering thats the price of a Kwh and my PC draws less than 100W.
It does reduce my mobile phone bill to 58p/month as well, so for the few minutes a month it takes to manage, it's worth it.0 -
Lets see,
2 minutes to check the account each month and fund it with 1K,
£5 / 2 = £2.50
*60 = £150/hour
If you can find me a job at £150/hour, I'll glad close my Halifax account0 -

It's easy to get a Halifax Reward account and to qualify for the fiver if you cba. Just about the only thing harder to do is to jump on a forum and slag off those that are ahead of you.
EDIT: I see Mr K was quite happy to cash in on the fivers for a couple of years, before that "2 different DDs" requirement came in. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=58691619&postcount=242
So why is it now "all this fuss/effort over 5 quid a month", just because you needed to set up a couple of DDs, which was generally quite straight forward to do? Mr K, I sense some jealousy on your part, for no longer being part of the party (I know you will deny this, so you don't have to).0 -
