Well today has been a productive day mr el started painting the wall where the rough cast had broken off and I have managed to spend some time ( not too long sadly ) in the garden, I've harvested some of my lavender , lemon and orange thyme I am thinking I may try making some lavender thing for the clothes etc
We then went to b@q and managed to buy some more masonry paint and some Jeyes fluid for cleaning the moss off the verandah
I had a wonderful day just resting and spending time with mr el, I actually stopped at one point and watched him painting and feeling the sun on my face and heat in my bones and thought life can't get much better than this, it's made me realise the goals we are working towards are all aimed at being able to have more days like today
Today's day goes into my best things of 2013 jar to be realised and remembered for a long time to come

sounds lovely
It really was taxi, in a very unexpected way, I've always known I like simple things in life and don't need to spend lots of money to feel good ... But something as simple as watching the man I love paint whilst standing in the polytunnel was quite eye opening
Well done on being finishedTilly_MFW_in_6_YRS wrote: »What a beautiful post El.

I've had a very interesting shift reading Mse tonight
I'm
Actually considering getting into more debt ... Arrrgggggjhhhh I hear you scream ... But wait
I'm thinking of solar panels, I'm thinking maybe we should get them fitted whilst we are getting a good feed in tarrif , yes we would be going uni debt but we could take it out on a 0% card (3% fee) at a cost of £150 we could then start generating our own electricity an saving some money and getting paid to do so ... This interests me ... I will need to obviously look further into it but I think it could be an idea worth exploring, from the basics I am picking up we could make £750 a year on average so twenty years would be £15k return for an initial outlay of roughly £7k ... I don't think ISA's are giving that good a rate
As I say will need to investigate more but it could be worth our while0 -
You might need to planning permission el.
Good idea in principle though.

'I think' they relaxed planning permission on solar panels. The usual rules on it are primarily focused on the visual impact on the front of the house. If the panels face to the back you won't have any problem.
In terms of the green deal (if that is the route you go down) you will have had to carry out other insulation measures before you do the solar panels. Basically trying to make the house as energy efficient as possible.
Another alternative that won't generate income but will cut your bills is the rent a roof scheme where the power company basically rent your roof for their solar panels.
As you say you have a bit of research to do!

Do lots of checking El, The feed in tarriffs are being steadily reduced on solar. If you decide to go ahead, make sure you get yourself locked in before the next drop happens. Cant remember when that is, but read something about it in the newspapers recently. We have a wind turbine and were lucky enough to get locked in really early. It pays MOST of our electric bills plus generates a small profit quarterly. Hubby actually enjoys the windy days now instead of whinging about the weather !Its just a bad day, Not a bad life .. :cool:0

From reading the thread about panels it appears you don't need permission if they are on the roof but will do if they are on a wall ... Obviously some places are different from others so it will be a case of finding out exactly what our position is should we decide to go ahead with it all
Not gonna go near green deal with a 50 ft barge pole also the rent a roof scheme I wouldn't touch either ... I had look at both previously and wasn't impressed with either
I saw the Andrew marr thing ... Will deff keep it in kind Gould the weather improve enough to get up the hills ... Still haven't got anywhere with running as I'm getting shin splint pain even sitting walking etc ... My shin just feels bruised
Will need to do something soon though as I'm getting fatter and lazier and I don't like it one bit0
