  • I live in Westcliff on Sea , Essex and my Myhermes driver who collects items from me is fantastic. Usually arrives by midday and has not let me down in about 30 pickups.

so does that mean it is still in the shop or still in the depot????

Soolin, I think personally for peace of mind RM is the way to go, Would you want to go through this everytime you sent a parcel with myhermes? just suposing it is a computer/scanning glitch could you run your business with this happening, and not knowing if it is a glitch, or not???

Could you forfil the 1000+ parcels a year?

This is just a thought for other readers etc.... but maybe if you got a friend/relative who sends the ocassional parcel, could they not send them with your lot of parcels? they get a cheaper rate, and you get your parcel count bumped up?

Really hope the parcel gets delivered.

I'm still dithering :rotfl:, I'm even considering cutting back on ebay as I have the chance of some lucrative freelance work which I coudl do instead.

However, I can easily fulfil 100 parcels a month as it stands at the moment, it's whether or not I want to.

I have to stop dithering soon
Thanks for drawing my attention to the changes, our lass usually posts my parcels but even so, the last time I was in the P.O. I didn't see any indication they were changing.

However am I the only person who welcomes these changes, perhaps because most of what I send has been listed as a parcel (just) increasing the size upto 1 KG @ 80mm will be a boon for me.

    .

Are you looking at small or medium parcels, as small parcels is really 'very' small and medium parcels are going to be £5.20 up to 1kg.

im up for trying hermes , the find a store thingy doesnt seem to do much

how can i find out where i can drop off

Didn't work for me either - but if you click on Find a ParcelShop in the left-hand menu you can get there. The shops are er sparse, even in Birmingham, compared to some others, but at least Hermes is much less restrictive on max parcel size (120 cm).

Won't *everyone* have to put their shipping costs up?

No need for ebayers to worry?

The "free" shipping people are going to have to have a rethink I suppose.

Unfortunately not- a lot of medium sized sellers have now gone onto business accounts which will mean those with RM accounts getting a much lower fixed price and those without paying PO prices. Even with my small business I am eligible for a busienss account now.

As for free postage, it is quite the opposite. To retain TRS in the future free postage must be one of the options on your auction. The TRS boards are now full of people desperately trying to rejig their prices to enable a free postage option to be added to their listings, where perhaps there was not one before.

Again this is going to make a two tier system, TRS sellers with free postage with all the Best Match rankings sewn up, followed by everyone else with postage costs and so far down Best match we might as well not bother.

  • It's the lowering of the compensation paid by RM for lost parcels that has hit me as much as the sizing changes.

The old £46 limit covered most of my sales, but the lowering to £20 has hit me hard as a huge number of my items cost me between £20 and £40. I have the choice now of spending a small fortune (and therefore being uncompetitive) to send them all Special Delivery (even though I don't necessarily need the 'guaranteed next day' part of the service); use Myhermes for everything worth more than £20 as it's easy to bolt-on some extra insurance up to £100 for a relatively small fee; or just take the risk that the item won't get lost/damaged and stick with 1st or 2nd Class Signed For.

For the moment I've opted to use Myhermes as the 'free postage' option for everything that's either worth more than £20 or is a medium sized parcel and will see how it goes.

Not sure if opening an OBA will give me any more options - am still waiting for my call back!

Signed for on RM gives you more compensation that standard 1st or 2nd. You don't need special delivery
