    soolin,

I am just going to go with RM business for my average parcels etc, and the bulk boxed stuff go through parcel monkey.

Even though I haven't bayed for a few months, we are now re-structuring our business and one of our main top-up source of income will be ebay/website.

I don't want the stress of parcels arriving late, getting negs/low ratings due to no fault of my own etc.

I am not saying things will not go wrong with RM, but I think its better the devil you know...

Keep us informed about this parcel soolin as it might make other readers minds up on what/who to use,

I am still undecided as to whether to contact RM about a business account. Someone on one of the many threads on community board said that even with a large percentage of large letters RM said it would still be cost effective. I will wait and see what happens with this Myhermes parcel.

I just can't decide what to do, but I suppose there is no harm in asking RM to contact me for a chat, is there?

I think loads of people are thinking like you Soolin, me included, I would call myself a bit of a 'ditherer':rotfl: but there comes a point, where the you need to make a decision, otherwise I think things become more clouded,

The main thing question I had to ask myself would I send 1000 plus parcels out per year?

so I divided a 1000 by 45 weeks ( the 7 weeks left out is to cover holidays, christmas/new year, and poss illness etc) and this works out at approx 23 parcels per week, which is alot more than I normally used to post out, BUT i was only baying on a casual basis ( business and private account). so I personally don't think 23 is an unrealistic amount to sell/post out every
    week.

Dropped parcel off before 11 am this morning, tracking shows it is still in shop.

Please tell me this isn't going to be another Collect plus style fiasco under a different name.

It might be a fiasco but I think you will be OK. I find it can take myhermes tracking a day to catch up with what has happened. Our local myparcel shop is emptied around midday each day but it is often the next morning before the tracking shows this.

I think my myhermes parcel is turning into a problem :(

It's now updated to 'not received by driver'

so does that mean it is still in the shop or still in the depot????

Soolin, I think personally for peace of mind RM is the way to go, Would you want to go through this everytime you sent a parcel with myhermes? just suposing it is a computer/scanning glitch could you run your business with this happening, and not knowing if it is a glitch, or not???

Could you forfil the 1000+ parcels a year?

This is just a thought for other readers etc.... but maybe if you got a friend/relative who sends the ocassional parcel, could they not send them with your lot of parcels? they get a cheaper rate, and you get your parcel count bumped up?

Really hope the parcel gets delivered.

  • Thanks for drawing my attention to the changes, our lass usually posts my parcels but even so, the last time I was in the P.O. I didn't see any indication they were changing.

However am I the only person who welcomes these changes, perhaps because most of what I send has been listed as a parcel (just) increasing the size upto 1 KG @ 80mm will be a boon for me.

And those looking at changing avoid UK Mail (ipostparcels) they have severe problems with things going missing, and then deny it, saying the parcel was damaged (what with no photo or returned goods?) and not paying the cover paid for?

Hermes look a good option, and certainly I have recieved stuff from them okay.

But please anyone starting out don't skimp on postage for expensive items, another forum I go on I regularly come across people sending iPhones 1st class mail and then wondering why the person has said the item is missing, not even recorded let alone special or tracked delivery, so no signature, or proof of delivery?

My postmistress told me today that the post offices will not be getting official notification/guides on the new pricing until the 17th. Good job they have internet access! Or else they wouldn't know anything about it.

    She's still stressed.

I have a RM business account, but the problem is that I can only send first or second class - no standard parcel rate. Most of what I send are between 1 & 2 kg, so have to use the Ebay print a postage label for them, or ship them first class which costs about £2.50 more.

Not sure what the changes will be on a business account, I did get something from RM about sending parcels, but it was as clear as mud !!

Our local experience with MyHermes is that they are slow, a good two or three days slower than most other couriers, but have always received the parcels and parcels I sent did get there eventually. The tracking is a bit odd and very far behind, so really not accurate and up to date-needs 24 hours to track properly.

Personally, I give MyHermes a miss these days when sending items and use a site like Parcel Hero as a broker to compare prices. Will never use Parcel2go again after being ripped off when a parcel was stolen.
