Please can I sneak back in?
MIA for months, staying with daughters for weeks on end and going totally of the rails!!
Mainly I do surveys and e-b*y. Amazon sometimes. Could do more as I've plenty of time on my hands, just need more motivation. Now if someone sold that they'd make a fortune.
Have 25 things finishing tonight on e-b*y. Am going to go through my survey sites tomorrow to see if there are any funds lurking in there.
Off to read page one, with a note book in hand, looking for ideas.
Hopefully post tomorrow with something to add to my to my total.

Well pleased to report we have £800 set aside for the overdraft (66%) and the overtime the husband has done will be bringing another £588 at the moment which means we will have succeeded our target of £1200 :j:j

We have another debt coming into play once the overdraft is paid and that will be the next thing we focus on. Its the tax for our company (which we chose not to set aside and now have to find before HMRC want it!!) Its due in 6 months and is £5538  So the husband will be plodding on with his overtime and i will continue listing things for sale and trying to make cuts on bills and keep birthdays/christmas cheap etc.

    So

    Debt 1 - CC - £6500 original balance, 1% is £65 - Paid off 30%
    Debt 2 - Overdraft - £1200, will have paid off 100% by Aug 29th
    Debt 3 - HMRC - £5538, 1% is £55.30 - Saved 0% (due March 2014)
    Debt 4 - Car balloon payment - £2140, 1% is £21.40 - Saved 0% (due October 2014)

Also need to look at remortaging August 2014 - never done this before, first mortgage deal expiring.

So, um, yeah, alot to tackle haha

Happytails - I soooo hate HMRC, tax and vat have gotten us in trouble when we had 3 tricky months in a row. My DH now has a contract paying x amount so it's slightly easier and I have sat him down and made him set x amount aside each month for vat, tax, student loan etc.. First time we're trying to do it that way round (in four years) and really hope that will work better this time around as I hate those big bills,.. but you just never quite know what it's going to be.

I'm sending off my two old mobile phones for recycling, hoping that might add up to 1% :).
Selling some bits on ebay too, fingers crossed.

    Off to reorganise the clothes!

    :)

Ska1982, totally agree. Thing is we will be in the same boat next year as got that much to pay over the next 14 months that i doubt we will get much put aside for the next time it needs paying *sigh*

Just glad we are tackling it and not got our heads in the sand!

    Where is everyone?!

Today i have signed up to freepostcodelottery and swagbucks :j, requested a new pin for my 2nd bank account ready for when we shut the beastly halifax one down when we clear our overdraft at the end of the month :j and checked my budget. All from the comfort of my sofa. LOL

£36.50 in bids on Ebay still. Ending Fri & Sun. Hoping for some more bids :)

In the middle of writing lists for Xmas and birthdays til March. Got our wedding anniversary coming up, we are staying over at our favourite place and eating there, will set us back about £200, its been planned months and we have baby sitters for the 3 kids & the dog. Just going to enjoy it as we wont be doing it again until atleast March. We've said no cards, flowers, presents etc though im thinking of writing a little poem in a handmade card (free) :) Also had to bin off half of what i wanted to do for the husbands birthday as we need to be realistic.

got all 3 kids birthdays in next 6 months so need to think of awesome but cheap presents and birthday parties (read gatherings at home!)

I've just found your thread and would love to join (albeit a little late). I was a backseat MSEr until January this year, had a lot of issues over the past two years and was unwell last year. As a result of this (and refusing to look at my accounts, oops!) at the start of this year I decided to admit I was £13,000 in debt without my mortgage and student loan (but they don't really count in the grand scheme).

I've been doing the £10 a day challenge and think I'm up for this one. That does mean that my 1% is a massive £130.00 however, I am doing REALLY well at paying them off each month, stoozing and the like and I'm hoping that browsing this thread can give me a few extra ideas.

Having said that, I am already at a fabby 31% paid off since January - which is why I really like the idea of this thread because it sounds a lot more this way and breaks it down into manageable chunks.

Thank you for inspiring me - my aim is debt free by the end of 2014 and to be honest this time last year I hadn't even thought about how to get out of my downward spiral so it is a huge challenge but at least it now seems doable.

    So anyway.... hello :)

  • Hello, can I join in with this challenge please

I've only just took stock of everything and trying to pay it off as quickly as I can!

My original debt was (as of 8/8/13) £7372.97 So 1% for me is £74. Today it is sitting at £7268.00!

So I've managed to pay off 1% already!

Morning! very quiet on here as of late! Hope everyone is doing ok!!

Ive got £43 worth of Ebay bids now :j They end Fri & Sun so might even get some more!

We've technically got enough for the overdraft now (When the overtime is paid!) but not declaring our 100% until we actually have the money. Im looking forward to paying it off and swanning into the bank to close all my accounts :)

So the money we are making now will be going towards Debt 3 for HMRC. YEY progress!

Its free listings today for 10 day listings guys!!

  • Hello All,

Hope you're all doing well! Sorry for not visiting as often as I should.

I've had a few very low income months and just keeping up with paying the basics has been beyond tough! My percentages paid off hasn't moved in a while.

I'm on the hunt for work as I know things will improve if my income is stable.

Welcome to the new folks that have joined the thread & challenge. Even when I'm just treading water, I focused on my 1% progress so far and that has been great motivation to continue.
