It is all my favourite things though, getting rid of junk and making money. Win win! I just wish everything I listed sold but half of it doesn't. The trouble is I can never work out the things that will and won't sell. I have sold some pretty random stuff! And some of the good condition branded items haven't sold. The minds of these ebay buyers are strange!0

Have you tried car boots Remote Control?
I've done a few in the past but not since i joined MSE - i think ive sold everything but there's always more clutter :rotfl:
I do get a "buzz" out of selling tbh and would love maybe a market stall but i wouldnt know what to specialise in - just a pipedream0 -
I was thinking of doing a car boot in the summer. I did a couple about 5 years ago, got about £80 at the first one and then about £30 at the second! So that put me off. I think I need to hold my ground a bit more with the savvy bargain hunters. I don't know if it is better to price things at a car boot or not, anyone got any experience of whether this works better?0

I prefer to see prices on everything, simply because it's annoying to keep having to ask the stallholder what the price of each item is. And if it's a busy boot sale, the potential buyer has to wait to get the stallholder's attention.
Books, DVDs, CDs etc can all go in boxes with a cardboard sign on it saying the price. (In the past, I've rejected a lot of books that I otherwise would have bought, simply because the seller has put high-tack sticky labels on them.)
The best thing a seller can do is price items in way which does not damage the packaging or presentation.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
That is great advice.
I had a 20p box when I did one years ago and I remember it was really popular. And that helps with the packing as well. So I could do 20p, 50p, £1 boxes.
What is a reasonable price for clothes? £3? I have a load of maternity clothes to sell and was thinking a flat rate with a sign would be easier0 -
I would agree with pricing - i did notice on the last car boot i did that a stall holder had a lot of clothing items that didnt sell and a buyer came up and asked for a price for the job lot. At the time i thought wow but now i would think its because he will sell them on in one of those schemes but he would have to buy up as much stock as cheap as he could to make money! The stall holder wins in that not taking stock back home but would have to be happy with the price.0

Everytime I decide to dedicate myself to debt clearing something comes up, we are moving now so that is going to put about another £2000 on the credit card by the time we pay the deposit and fees ect (we are renting). It is for work so it's a good thing really but the rental prices where we are moving are about double what we pay now but I am trying to look at the big picture. It is a career for my parter which will work for us in the long term just sucks financially in the short term.
