New board suggestion - crafter's moneysaving

I was just wanting to ask advice on getting a new sewing machine and don't know where to put it, which had me thinking that a crafter's board would be good.
Crafting is expensive and sharing tips would be fantastic. It could encompass all types of crafts - knitting, sewing, quilting, qulling, card making, crochet, etc.
Is this the right place to make this suggestion?

Great idea imo.
Currently it gets lost in Old Style (but some hobby quilts are ££££ to make, hardly OS) or in Family etc.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
It should've been nicely fitted in with old style, in tune with oldstyle, if it were run in that spirit. I cannot see the point in old style board with threads purely on chatter, declutter and 10001 long threads on recipies which no one refers to anymore. It needs a revamp, top to bottom, making it more welcoming to ideas and freshers, imo.0

Oooh _ I would live the idea of a specific place for crafter to go to. :0)Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0

obviously if you don't see the point in a board you won't visit it but actually most of the craft and sewing threads seem to be on this board but again some threads are long and chatty so you probably won't see the point in looking there

If a new board is created that will include also arts such as painting etc. and tips shared as to how to find cheaper but good materials, how to make the best use of them and even a few tricks of the trade to cut down on material waste, then I would be interested in it too.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

Mods? Any feedback on this idea?
I think it really doesn't fit with Os, plus OS is a terrible place for your thread being sucked into a muchbigger thread and lost, or just generally lost amongst all those chatty daily threads which make me shudder.
I think it should be anything artistic and crafty, so would include painting, sewing, knitting, crochet, sculpting, papercraft, etc. etc. and be a place more to talk about where to get stuff or what cheaper alternatives there are, than big long chatty threads although some "show off your project" threads are always nice.
Would be great to hear back and know whether this will be taken on board.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

You'd have my backing Skintchick! Would be nice to have its own bard and we could have threads on each of the various crafts as well as a "this is what I'm working on" style thread!Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0

Would be a great idea IMO, the crafting threads can be split across lots of boards and easily get lost or missed, for those wanting to make money from crafting, those crafting for a hobby, using craft skills to upcycle and create new furniture or home furnishings and baking/cake making is now also seen frequently as a craft :money:
I think I crafting board would be very popular and much used, so it gets my :money: lol0 -
I think this is a really good idea. I'd love to have somewhere to go to ask for advice, show things off. Not many of my real life friends are very crafty so they have no interest at all in what I do (unless I do some sugarcraft, then they're all over it!)Comping since March 2013

Can I just add, I've just had a browse through the "old style" forum, and while its nice to see threads dedicated to knitting, crochet etc, they are all reeeeeeeally long! So a newbie like me is a little intimidated by the thought of jumping straight into one of these threads, and also I don't have five hours spare to read the whole thread...
Whereas if there was a forum for crafts, with sub forums for crochet, felting etc it would be a lot less daunting to join in on the conversation.
