The £500 a week is a cap on housing benefit only,
 You need to look again.
From DWPThe Benefit Cap will see the amount people can receive in benefits capped at the average earned income after tax and National Insurance for working households of £500 a week for couple and single parent households – the equivalent of £26,000 per year.
It will apply to the combined income from JSA, Income Support, Employment and Support Allowance, Child Benefit, Child Tax Credits and other benefits.0

 From DWP
Will the cap also apply to people on DLA? I think I read somewhere that it wouldn't but I'm not sure.
So, if a couple have a child and one of the parents is on DLA, would the cap apply or not? I get a bit confused.:o
 Thank you.2019 Wins

 Thank you both.
It doesn't really matter to me if the cap applies anyway (and we get less than £500 anyway) as we would learn to budget but it was just a wondering. 2019 Wins 2019 Wins
