  • People get their kids taken off them for a lot less. These kids would be so much better off away from the mother, she doesn't deserve to get all that money. It has backfired in her face as she's obviously had that many to get more money. Unfortunatly there are 8, 9 soon, kids stuck in the middle of it all

Local housing allowance (housing benefit for private properties) was capped in 2012 at a maximum of £400 a week, so either this story is a load of !!!!!!!! or you have got the wrong information from her.

I don't understand the title of your thread? What is the point of this post? Some satisfaction that some people who are wasting tax payers money that don't even benefit the children are going to have to deal with the reality of life? Or are you actually feeling sadden on the impact it is likely to cause the children?

If this woman is such a poor role model to her children and mistreating them, then maybe that's what it will take either for her to finally open her eyes and start prioritising her income, or things will get worse and the children might then have a chance to be looked after by families who can treat them better.

The reason why the rent is so high is because it is classed as emergency housing, landlords can charge the council what they want,

Emergency accommodation has always been more than standard accommodation. It's one of the reasons why LA's have come in for much stick for placing people in temporary accommodation for so long.

While this has typically been for bed and breakfast, it's not the type of accommodation that matters but the nature of the housing issue ie one of homelessness.

If the law says the family MUST be housed then normal HB rules don't apply.

If they did, then even before the restrictions of the last couple of years, LAs wouldn't have been able to have paid for B&B and they clearly have been paying it over and above "normal" levels for many, many years.

It is very likely that this case involves legitimate payments above HB levels.

its possible that this neighbour said a week, because the letter is referring to a weekly cap, and she meant a month

perhaps in her head she even thought my rent is £650 and benefits are £500 how will i pay it

she is on drink and drugs according to the original post

Not sure on the accuracy of the OP but one of my bugbears is unmarried women, being supported by the state, who are having child after child after child. [I'm talking those already on benefits continuing to have more children]

Guaranteed, if there was not the benefits there to support them, they would not have so many.

The benefits limit cannot come in quick enough to stop people recklessly having more children, without care that other people are having to go out and work hard to support them.
Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.

OP is familiar with charity shops in Cardiff so probably CA but I can't find a three bed to rent near there for over £508 and that's this place

    http://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/property/3-bedrooms/cardiff/newest/?include_rented=true&price_frequency=per_week&price_min=500&q=Cardiff&radius=0&search_source=refine

It all sounds a bit fishy, like if you were a land lord of a £650 a week property you'd let it out to a young woman on benefits with eight children....

    Apologies for being bored.....

Cardiff postcodes start CF not CA.

    And £650 a week?!

I've no idea, but it would be foolish to suggest there are not single parents who continue to have children whilst on benefit.

You don't need the Daily Mail to know that.

It does happen, but I don't think it's as many as people believe it to be.
