Ebay lost parcel

Hi
Ordered off ebay a small motor for delivey via paypal
Item not arrived checked with ebay supplier when it was dispatched they say on same day as order, received confirmation of order but no dispatch confirmation.Following up a week later still no parcel checked with post office and supplier.Turns out I have no house number on the address but everything else is ok .I have not had any issues previously with deliveries and the house number is on the paypal account.
The supplier wont confirm dispatch date and if the item was recorded delivery or proof of posting just says sent economy postage it was a small motor so I wouldnt have thought been delivered by normal postman. Will only refund on return of parcel.
I have checked with local post depot who say parcels normally not delivered would be held back and returned to sender, and they dont have any parcels held back.
Have I lost my money?

Open a PayPal claim for goods not received?0 -
Ask the seller if a returns label is on the outside of the parcel... if not I believe they are sent to a central processing center before returning to sender which can take time.
If the seller receives the goods back then all can be resolved. But if not then unfortunately you may have to take this one on the chin... although you should still keep on at the depot. If they are anything like our local one though don't expect much in terms of service.0 -
Op entered the incorrect address, so it's not really their fault.
OP had no house number on eBay but did on PayPal. Any half-intelligent seller would check PayPal address if there was no house number on the eBay address.
Also, I've had letters sent to me with a number mistyped, and still received it due to having a good postie.
Also, as the seller is refusing to provide any information, I'd be inclined to open a dispute.0 -
yes I know just noticed but had other stuff delivered previously no problems.
Only problem I have is the seller has no confirmation of posting or record of delivery or tracked,so how do I know he posted on date stated as he is not being helpful its a motor for a hover so not a small item.0 -

Op says he has no house number on the address, which i'm interpreting as the address selected for payment. The seller should send to whatever address is on the payment confirmation irrepsective of what other address' are registered with PayPal or eBay.
It seems we could be interpreting it differently.... so perhaps op could clarify this point....0 -

If this is the case, it would be very easy to obtain a refund, whether rightfully or wrongly. Although if it has been posted, the right thing to do would be to take it on the chin... however it is (imo) not unreasonable to at the very least be provided with proof of postage. If the item is large and/or bulky and/or valuable then it would be unusual for a seller to not send tracked, let alone have POP. If they are refusing to provide this, then (imo) it is not unreasonable to open an item not received case.0 -

Its up to the seller to get the parcel to you
They can elect to use the post office to deliver it (FOR THEM) or have Bertie Bassett deliver it (FOR THEM) on a uni-cycle
It is not your responsibility to chase delivery - its up to them to deliver it to you - if their elected representative (the Post Office) cant/dont perform thats their problemOpen a PayPal claim for goods not received?
I agree
The moron that told you "Will only refund on return of parcel." is quoting process for a faulty item, not undelivered item
It such a clear breech of legislation (THE LAW) that i fail to understand why Ebay dont completely remove their account based upon their responseWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
You will get more reponses on the ebay board from people who have a lot of experience with ebay / paypal disputes.
If the seller is not able to provide ebay or paypal with proof of tracked postage/delivery, the buyer generally wins the dispute. The seller has to send to the Paypal address in order to be protected in any way, by the way.
So open a dispute with Paypal (preferably) or ebay (they take a bit longer) - the seller will then be forced to provide postage details. If it was not tracked, you will get your refund.0 -

It's up to the seller to deliver the parcel to the address specified correctly. So if the address specified is incorrect it's hardly a reasonable expectation that the seller ensures the parcel is delivered to op individually.
No different for example if a person enters an old address accidentally - if the seller successfully delivers the goods to this address they have fulfilled their side of the contract. The fact the person in this example may not have access to that address, thus hasn't received the parcel, is not relevant. It is not your responsibility to chase delivery - its up to them to deliver it to you - if their elected representative (the Post Office) cant/dont perform thats their problem
You appear to have missed a crucial bit:quanto2009 wrote: ».Turns out I have no house number on the address but everything else is ok .
Under such circumstances it certainly is in ops interest to chase up the delivery.
This advice may be correct had op not made an error in the address, but that's not what has happened here.0
