So sorry for your loss, its like losing one of the family and worse because you didn't have chance to say goodbye to her.
She will have known love tough for thise years you had her which is more than some cats do, you did what your thought was best for her.
I'm also sure that she would have not been with it at the end and wouldn't have suffered.
Take care and think of the good times you had together. xx

You, obviously, were a lovely owner to your little furry one and she was lucky to have you.

I am sure she wasn't in pain, as Tigerlilly says, the vet would have made sure she did not suffer at the end. If you need to talk to someone at the vet's practice for reassurance, do give them a call tomorrow x

Thank you. I had decided last night that there was no point in asking more questions as it wouldn't bring her back. But here I am lying awake going over it all again so I think I do need to speak to them again.

I know it's completely irrational, especially as I don't really believe in an afterlife, but I keep hoping she will send me a sign to say that she is ok and that she forgives us for leaving her there when she was so scared. The last time I saw her she was in her little kennel at the vets, huddled in the litter tray as it was the furthest she could get from the door, trying to hide her face behind a blanket. She was so frightened and it was heartbreaking to leave her, but I thought we would have the chance to make it up to her when she came home. I'm so sorry my beautiful girl.

How adorable standing in a flower pot! Oh she's lovely, a tabby exactly like my little one!

Sorry to hear about your loss, my dog is 11.5 years old now and starting to slow down. I hope to have quite a few more years with him but I will miss him teribbly when his time comes. Your post gave me that little bit inspiration to make his day more special for him yesterday (reminding me that he won't be around forever).

She will understand, you loved her to bits and did the best you could for her.

Condolences and lots of love and hugs

My condolences to you and your family, she was a pretty girl. I can empathise; our Charlie cat was poorly before we went on holiday, but we had family staying at the house and the vet diagnosed a kidney infection and said it wasn't serious.

Needless to say, she went downhill as soon as we left, the vet had to operate, found a large tumour and, well, I'll never forget the telephone call we took in our Australian hotel room. The vet said she could be kept alive until we got back, but how fair would that have been! She was put to sleep on the operating table. We came back early, being away just wasn't right.

We were distraught to think she had had no-one she knew with her in her last few days, it still saddens me now, poor little girl.

Nothing will comfort you, and you will keep going over what else you could have done, but try not to let it consume you. Unfortunately these awful things happen, best wishes xx
