So terribly sorry for you. Everyone on this forum will be understanding exactly how you feel. She was a lucky girl to have such a caring owner.0

Thank you all for your kind words. Maisie was an amazing little cat who followed me around the house like a puppy. She was such an integral part of our family, and I am finding it so hard to accept that she will never be there anymore. I never imagined it would be this painful.0

How awfully sad. My dog is getting old now and I dread the day when anything happens to him. Pets are members of the family and their loss leaves a huge hole.0

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's always painful to lose them, at any age, so it must be devastating to lose one so young. Her life may have been quite short but it was clearly a happy one and I'm sure she felt the love you had for her.0

I know when us humans come round the Dr doesn't visit right away to discuss the surgery as we're too groggy & out of it to take much in & I am sure she also wouldn't've suffered - I am sure with people they keep the pain relief going to cover waking up also so surely it's the same with animals?
I too had a young cat (aged 2) die at the vets so can understand some of how you are feeling, I am sure she would think 3 years of a wonderful life with you is better than 13 with neglect & abuse.
I think I would ask the Vet as i'm sure she wasn't allowed to suffer. Thinking of you x0 -
Heartbreaking. I can't imagine how horrific receiving that phone call must have been, its my worst nightmare.
However many times people can say 'it happens' its still totally horrific and shocking.
Make sure you give yourself some time to get over the shock and grieve properly xxxxx0 -
I am so very sorry for your loss xI have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed. Booker T Washington

Thank you. You are right about the phonecall, I keep replaying it in my mind, along with everything that happened the day we left her there, and the decisions we made. I miss her so much already.0 -
You, obviously, were a lovely owner to your little furry one and she was lucky to have you.
I am sure she wasn't in pain, as Tigerlilly says, the vet would have made sure she did not suffer at the end. If you need to talk to someone at the vet's practice for reassurance, do give them a call tomorrow xI have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed.
