I recently bought an Easiyo yogurt marker after reading one of the threads on here. I think its great, i havent tried the sachet but use the recipe thats on the thread. 2 tbsp natural live yogurt, 2 tbsps of powdered milk, and top the container up with uht milk, add sugar or sweetener to taste. I serve it with fruit after i chop it into small piece or blend, again add sugar or sweetener to taste, can use tinned or frozen fruit instead of fresh.
My kids love it and to make yogurt drink you could replace uht milk with uht milkshakes and not add powdered milk because that thickens it.

I bought the kit and am going to try the home made recipe from here, but I have a question - if you use greek yoghurt as the starter do you get nice thick greek yoghurt?

Yes, you do but you can use ordinary live yogurt as a starter and add a more powdered milk to thicken it. Try different amounts, until you get the yogurt how you like it. Same with the sugar/sweetener adjust the amount until you get yogurt sweet enuff as it can be pretty sharp if you don't sweeten it.

Hi everyone, this is the first time that I have replied to anything. I was given a yogurt maker from a work colleague who had had it for years. It was a simple stout, tan coloured 'flask' with a flat lid and a screw on lid. It came with its own thermometer and a small ceramic dish that you put in the pan when you boiled a pint of milk. When the ceramic disc rattled you measured the temp and when it was between two red lines on the thermometer the milk was the correct temp. You then needed to add this milk to the 'flask' which had 1tsp of natural yogurt in and then stirred gently. This was then sealed and left overnight. The morning after the yogurt was ready and was absolutely delicious! Not very thick, more like the extra thick double cream you can buy and it literally cost the price of a pint! However, the lid seemed to 'disappear' suddenly and when I asked my daughters they said the dog had had it at on stage but they put it back (i'll bet) it was never to be seen again. I bought the Easy Yo yogurt maker but really it is much cheaper to buy from aldi, 39p for a large pot of natural yogurt. The Julian Graves sachets can be up to £2.00. I don't think it's worth it. If anyone knows where I could buy another of the super yogurt maker I had please let me know, i think it was called the Deva Bridge yogurt maker.

I also have the Lakeland one, you can add sugar at the beginning so that you get a lovely set yoghurt too, yummy.

Although I have the Easiyo set and use the packets of mix I think I will give theses recipes a try. I did try making yoghurt before and it wasn't very nice but now I can see that I should have added the powdered milk!
My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being, hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.

So is everyone adding sugar at the beginning then when they actually make the yoghurt? I just add milk, milk powder and a little starter. I add the sugar as im using it but my yoghurt is very thin. Maybe adding sugar at the beginning helps thicken it?

I have a strainer that I bought from Lakeland at the same time, I put the yoghurt in it until it's as thick as I want it.

I put put sweetener in at the beginning, but it doesn't really make any difference to the thickness i found the more powdered milk the thicker the yogurt
