Have you actually asked your bank if you can have one now?Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0

There are a lot of urban myths surrounding such cards regarding security. It is in practice extremely difficult if not impossible for a fraudster to scan and clone a card using this NFC technology.
If you are paranoid you can always follow the advice below and wrap your cards up in tin foil. I have seen customers at my bank doing exactly that.

Thankfully Nationwide aren't issuing these. I don't mind them on credit cards (in fact, my Cap One progress has it) as then if you're scammed the money isn't yours that's been nicked.
Nationwide are looking into the issuance of contactless cards. It was mentioned on the forum on their website.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
They've been "looking into it" for years. I'll believe it when I see it.
Also, I thought contactless cards (when used that way) ask for your PIN on the first use and random subsequent uses?
I've used my contactless CapOne card for numerous small purchases at McD's since getting it and have never been asked for a PIN once???I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

I will believe in progress if the Cheque Guarantee scheme is resurrected.
Would you believe there is more cheque fraud, than contactless....
I'm surprised you do not want to go back to the old barter trading....

My HSBC debit card doesn't expire until 2015 but their new debit cards have the contactless feature - they're only issuing these when existing cards run out, but I really want one!
Do you think I can persuade them to give me one?
Just ask them.urs sinserly,

Just tell them that your card is damaged and stopped working?
Just to let anyone know, I can confirm I have just tried this and they're sending me a new card - with contactless feature. Same card number, pin etc, you just have to activate online or by phone when received, and the old one becomes inactive.0 -
I recently opened a Halifax Current Account and the card wasn't contactless so I merely called and asked for one.
Simple as that, it came about a week later.0 -
Yes some banks are better than others, (for example Barclays has already supplied almost all its customers with contactless), HSBC just happen to be one that for some reason would rather not supply you one until your current card expires, hence the need to 'force their hand' !0
