Help!!!! Travelling to Newton Abbot from Newcastle by train.

Hi my name is ben and im from Newcastle. Im looking to see a friend in Newton Abbot and travel by train with my partner. I'm looking to stay from a Monday till a Friday, around May time. I looked on various websites and have been quoted around 300 pound!!!! Is that too much??? Is there anything I can do to get the price down? I think to be paying 200 pound for hotel for 4 nights and paying 300 pound for train is way tooooo much, last year I went to London for under 200 train and hotel. Please help If you can't thank you anyway

Should be able to get a decent Advance ticket for a lot less than that. What websites have you tried?

National rail, travelline, virgin. A few more but I forgot. I got a plan, newcastle to London on east coast, then London to Newton abbot. Hmm

which hotel are you looking at? do you have to stay in newton abbot, or could you stay in torquay for example?

and it's telling me £136 per person for rail and £155 per person to fly...
