Also had a look in device manager and there was a ethernet device listed but with no drivers installed. Tried looking for the drivers on the pc no luck. Since then, been trying to figure out, but unfortunately it seems I have accidentally deleted the existence of ethernet altogether...SORRY to all who are trying to help. Only a beginner, must keep away from the delete button!
what do I do now?

Hello, In computer management under other devices there is an Ethernet controller with as you rightly guessed is a yellow exclamation and a yellow question mark. When I click on it to bring up proprties, it tells me drivers for this device are not installed (code28).

So you need to identify the make/model of your LAN card and then download suitable drivers from the net on your other machine. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Have you tried letting Windows connect to the internet to look for the drivers?
Right click 'My Computer', choose 'Properties' and then 'Hardware', then 'Device Manager'. Next 'Network Adapter' and then 'double click' on the entry with the yellow exclamation mark. Choose 'drivers' and then 'Update Driver(or similar) whilst connected to the internet.
Allow Windows to connect to the Internet to find a suitable driver.0 -
Hi Donnie, have followed the above instructions, however under Network adapter it has details of my current BB ISP (TALKTALK). The yellow exclamation marks and question marks are on the next line down in Other devices, then dropdown to ethernet controller.
Hope thie helps..
