USB Connector to ethernet Connector.

I have purchased a wireless router to connect two pcs. The instructions tell me to plug my broadband modem in to router, from the router to back of one of the pcs. Then from there I should be able to configure the wireless bit out. However there is a snag. The broadband modem has a USB cable end, which goes in to pc, but the wireless router does not have USB port to connect in to. Only Ethernet port? Is there on the market a USB one end and is it ethernet connector on the other end??

Or am I missing something really obvious...

The w/less router is a Zoom ADSL X6.

Any help much appreciated.

If so, you simply connect from your telephone wall socket > filter > telephone cable > router (you should be able to see a socket to accept the phone cable on the back of the router).

Just to clarify my earlier post, the router has a modem built in to it - you do not need to connect a separate modem to it.

Thanks for that JZPop...The reason I did not try this was because on CD Rom instructions it tells me to connect to modem. I will try this

Just tried connecting without the modem. No luck. Will not recognise the router.

Download the correct user manual from here and follow the set-up instructions. No drivers are required.

I had this problem, went to MAplin and bought a network USB 2.0 adapter. USB at one end to plug into computer, you plug your router into the other end, the ethernet end.

Scrap that sorry, didn't notice the bit where you said about connecting the router to a modem. Will teach me not to skim read in future - sorry

Can you confirm that the link I posted above is to the correct model?

If so, what do you mean by 'Will not recognise the router'?

In Step 3 on Page 11 of the User manual, it says - "Connect the modem to the computer's ethernet port". If this is the part that is confusing you, I am not surprised. In fact, they are being a bit sloppy with their language, and referring to the connecting the ROUTER (which contains a modem) to a PC via the ethernet port.

    Hope this helps.
