Would you have sent a PM if you hadn't been drinking?

I hadn't been. I respected Generali enough to enquire if there was a problem which we could sort out. I'm not sure if I had done somethin which had insulted or offended, and if so, if I knew what it was, I could maybe apologise or put it to bed whatever.

Obviously I thought wrongly of General and was again, humiliated by taking stuff out of all context.
  • As I stated in the PM, you publically humiliate me quite well, and aim to do so. You then did exactly that by stating I sent a PM and removing all context. My point is proven.

    No better than Harry.

I think you are doing such a bang up job of humiliating yourself that others don't need to bother. I can't believe what I read in the full text of your post. I was cringing and laughing at the same time. It was like watching Ricky Gervaise on The Office do that dance. :rotfl:

Deary me. I do think you need to get a grip and perhaps have a rest from the internet. You're getting very overwrought and taking it all much too seriously. You seem care too much about what strangers on the internet think of you, but yet you don't care enough to actually change your ways. An odd dichotomy.

    Well that's really not fair.

I'd paste the PM up, as it didn't say that at all, but no one would believe what was pasted anyway. I stated I believe theres been an issue since the maths thing.

I thought the PM would be the best way to go as I've seen you state before now if people have issues, keep it to PM rather than on board. I didn't thik it would be like you to then bring one single sentence of that PM to the board to make it sound like something utterly different.

I'm outdone here. That I will admit. Well done Generali. Obviously you are wanting to carry this on.

This is what was said about the maths thing:
Hardly what you are portraying. I did ask that if it can't be sorted in PM it's just left. I had, quite clearly, left it after that. Can't win when I'm told not to make threads about me, only to find the person lording it over me continues the thread about me by portraying stuff I never said.As I stated in the PM, you publically humiliate me quite well, and aim to do so. You then did exactly that by stating I sent a PM and removing all context. My point is proven.

    No better than Harry.

I'm sorry if you feel upset as I don't want to upset people.

Consider why you're rowing with people on this board on an almost daily basis when lots of people who disagree with each other don't row.

I have nothing against you, I don't know who you are or really anything about you. If you'd rather I didn't reply to threads you've started maybe to add some of my experience or prejudice then perhaps you should say that.

My opinion is that you need a thicker skin, that's all. If you did then you'd find posting here a happier experience as would the rest of us.

I'm happy to post your PM in full (or you could) if you feel misrepresented.
  • Very fair and balanced post, Gen. As usual and as expected.

    Thanks Renoman.

TBH, and strange as it may sound, I think this is one of the more balanced boards on the interwebz and I enjoy that. I don't want to hang out with a bunch of libertarians or asset valuers or something, I like that there are divergent views here. We need to rub along together and perhaps we all need to make an effort to be a little less tribal in order to keep this a place worth visiting.

Thanks Generali for the response, that's all my PM was in aid of. I didn't want it public, but hey ho.

Just replying out of courtesy to say points taken, and hopefully mine about humilating people (as per telling everyone about the PM which proved every point I was trying to make) has also been taken.

I welcome every post. It's just misrepresentation which I don't really like hence going direct to you off board. My guess would be none of us like to be misrepresented or made to look an idiot. If I say something that's idiotic, fine. It's when I don't and what's actually said is grossly misrepresented (i.e. what you said about my PM) that gets my goat.

I honestly didn't think I was misrepresenting what you wrote to me. It was how I interpreted it.

Maybe the problem lies in that you're putting a tone of voice onto things that isn't intended. I used to do that when reading emails until I realised that any intonation on the words was strictly in my mind.

Anyway, HTH. Maybe we can get back on topic.

So Centrica. Great results IMHO. Gains across the board, not just in the consumer division. I reckon I'm a buyer at the current price.

As an interesting exercise to move away from Devon's emotional breakdown. Has anyone done the sums to see how much you would need to invest in energy company shares to cover the average electricity bill (Gas bill too I suppose)?

Are we talking thousands or tens of thousands? I'm currently in an efficiency drive at our house, but with the best will in the world, we will still require heating and electricity and so it'd be great if our reduced energy costs were covered by energy company dividends. Even better if those dividends came from a company that invests heavily in renewable energy.
  • Apologies for going off topic, but how the hell did I end up in a PM from devon to Generali??
I do respect your posts, and yourself. I don't really care about Harry, Chucky, Pricklepants making anything into something, but I'm not too sure what I have done to upset you.

I haven't even posted in this thread (until now)!! :rotfl:
