I've viewed a 2nd car, is this anything to worry about?

(2nd hand car that is!! - Cant edit the title!!)

Its a 2005 model vehicle, slightly above average mileage), immaculate inside & outside, FSH, every receipt kept for every bit of work carried out, including lightbulbs.

Price is higher than I can afford at the moment, but seller is open to negotiations.

I took a few pics from under the bonnet. Do I have anything to worry about?

Brand new MOT, no advisories, kept on drive.

Under the bonnet I tend not to understand so much! SO I took a few pictures of areas that I wasnt too clear about. In Picture 2, the cone shaped device had a bit of flaky rust right at the bottom. Dont know what that is!

MOT won't look at the engine.

I don't know what that rusty canister is in the 2nd picture down but it looks like it needs replacing - Im sure someon on here will identify it. Likewise the pipe in the top pic has seen better days but may last indefinitely. Wouldn't worry about the rust on the strut in the 3rd pic.
  • I'll take a stab at it being a Vauxhall Corsa. :)

This. Ideally you should take a mechanic friend back with you to have a look at it if you can before you buy.

    Is this a MK2 Rover 25?

    What car is it OP?
My car is a 2005 and owned from new, there are no rust patches like in your pics, it is always good to bring somebody else with you to view cars , if you are a member of a motoring organisation, they can 'full inspect' the car for a fee.
