Virgin Lobster mobile phone with built in DAB and TV

Had one of these a few weeks and after getting back off my Holidays to the States (didn't take the phone btw) I have noticed what may be a problem?
I can't seem to get the phone to come out of 'headset' mode....in fact when the phone receives a call it makes no sound, if I ring out I cant hear any key tones or indeed anyone on the other end of the call, bit frustrating.... this is with the hands free unplugged btw, when plugged in I get sound through the ear buds but even changing the profile settings makes no difference when unplugged. Strangely when in TV mode I can get the loud speaker to work and if I make a call the key tones are back and everything works fine, switch the TV off and no sound/listening via the unit again.
Have I missed something really simple or am I gonna have to send my little baby back?0 -

To answer myself - just called Virgin and yes it's gone wrong, they are swapping one out for me asap, hopefully a new one.0 -

I'd be surprised if they had a high failure rate. This is made by HTC and clearly based on one of their other models. They make very good quality stuff including the old HP/Compaq iPaqs (not sure about current models), XDA/MDA/SDA/SPV type phones from the networks (also known as iMate/DoPod/Qtek).
The recons are no-doubt quite simply because people have thought "oh, that sounds cool" and bought one to find it's too big or (more likely) complex for what they want and opted for the usual Nokia/SonyEricsson/Motorola phone.
They are very sophisticated little computers that happen to be able to function as a mobile phone; the downside is they are that much more complicated to use.The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

The stuck in headset mode was a problem with the first gen HTC handsets. I haven't read about any of the newer models having the problem in yearsSid_Harper wrote: »They are very sophisticated little computers that happen to be able to function as a mobile phone; the downside is they are that much more complicated to use.
As far as I can remember the solution was to hoke around the socket with a matchstick0 -
sis version of TOMTOM didn't workYou don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0

BTW - these are still available new, and you can get the 20% discount off too so still out there for £42.98
I have a question though - I have installed TCPMP and the AAC codec to allow me to play MPEG4 movies. It does though seem to take AAAAGES to copy video files over to this phone. Is this normal or is my phone duff? You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
Is there a link for the reconditioned version of the lobster phone.
If its expired, no probls - a linkl to the recondition phones in general will suffice.
