Is anyone else being pushed into choosing Reeds Rains conveyancing services?

  • PPS I thanked every post, without these forums you would be thinking at home and wondering if you are the only one worrying about how companies treat customers. we are very upset with reeds rains and just want to sell now so we don't have to speak to them again.

    Hello Johanna Millhouse.

I'm not glad you are having difficulties, but am glad that we are not the only ones wandering if our buyer is going to go through with the sale.

We are not as far forward in our sale as you are, but not a long way off. There isn't much of a chain because our buyer is a cash purchaser. But the delays are there never the less.

I will update to let you know how things go on our sale. I can only advise you keep pushing your agent, that is what we are doing.

12 weeks of advertising, yes that is what we are beginning to think too. It looks good for RR to have all these sold signs about, but what people don't know is they are only signs, not actual sales until completion.

I would have preferred under offer or sold subject to contract. But RR only do sold. I wonder why!?!?!

Keep us updated because it helps to share the journey with others dealing with this let down of a service provided by RR.

I wish you luck with your sale and hope it goes through.

Thanks. Although it is going very wrong and we have given notice to reeds rains. they can't seem to be able to get hold of this mysterious buyer. I told them I don't beleive this buyer exists and they got a bit cross at me for suggesting such a thing,,, whatever! We want rid of them and everything they stand for, going with a cheaper agent next and never alloing a sale to drag like that again. I don' t want to worry you but you should find out if your buyer exists sooner rather that later. I think our house helped them get more property to sell, i do think its about advertising and stealing business from other agents. They look busy and the one to choose dont they when they have sold on most properties. I hope your sale is different milkyway. good luck to everyone.

I don' t want to worry you but you should find out if your buyer exists sooner rather that later.

Our buyer exists, we are confident of this now. Our concerns now lie mainly with the estate agents ability to hold all this together and work for us, for their fee.

The buyer is moving slowly, but this won't be a problem as long as they don't suddenly start trying to reduce the agreed price, in which case we are back on the market again like a shot! It wouldn't be worth us moving if we went down in price any further, so RR need to work to keep the agreed price, which is a bargain!!!!

Our worries with RR have been lack of communication and to begin with doubts about the buyers. We still need to get the commuication going with them, and we are just crossing our fingers now that our buyers aren't sharks who want something for nothing

I'm sorry to hear your buyer didn't amount to anything, good luck with using another agent. RR don't seem to realise or care about people enough to see the stress involved in moving. They should do, and they should at least try to be helpful and stick to the promises they give. Or what is the point?
  • We got sold a load of rubbish to begin with, we just kept saying no. We just wanted the basic service as we felt we were paying through the nose just for that!

So many promises were given up front, but they never phoned back when they said they would. we ended up doing a lot of the work ourselves.

Now we have exchanged, we haven't heard a peep out of them. the promise to be in touch twice a week till completion has gone out of the window. Just like the weekly update to exchange often didn't happen.

Where can you complain about bad service? Reeds Rains take a large fee, they should work for this fee and treat their customers with some respect.

I think they have a lot to improve on, they sit by a phone, yet can't ring you when they say they will. You get a standard letter when you exchange, no congrats on the phone, nothing till completion!

The agent for the house we are buying phoned to congratulate us and keeps in touch, he doesn't have to, and he is disgusted with Reeds Rains and the way they treat customers.

They are not worth the money!

This is one company that i just detest..The games they try to play are taking advantage of people unfamiliar with the market..They prey on peoples lack of knowledge.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • We wanted to look at a house being marketed by RR, and in the 10 minute conversation in simply trying to book a viewing, we were canvassed to use them for conveyancing, brokerage services and were signed up to their e-mail updates on listed properties.

Very very pushy, and that's on initial contact! To top it off, the e-mail updates they send us are for properties which are £30k+ over our maximum budget - even after I rung them to tell them they were spamming my inbox with houses we couldn't buy, nothing changed...
  • The only contact we have with Reeds Rains now is emailed properties we might be interested in. Yet we still need to deal with them, if just to pay them through our solicitor.

They are greedy, ungrateful, ignorant, and I will be putting my disgust in writing to their head office.

We don't get so much as a courtesy call.

And we too were given the sell sell of conveyancing and mortgage advice. It was constant and they really did try to get those extra commissions on top...which I bet is a lot of money for them!

They get thousands for each house that sells, but they definitely want more money on top of that.

If they are pushing people into extra services, they should be on Watchdog.

I really feel cheated by this company, too much money for zero service or courtesy.

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID PLENTY MORE FISH IN THE SEA WHEN IT COMES TO ESTATE AGENTS!
  • We stupidly chose reeds rains and they were pushy and aggressive. We bought an expensive package and had premium listing and went with their own conveyancer. They signed us to the conveyancing without our permission and we stupedly allowed it.

They never sold our house, just kept asking us to reduce the price. I tjust cost us money to market with them and they didn't get many viewers through the door.

Reeds rains promised all sorts on valuation, even said we were marketing our house competitively and that it would sell very fast. Yet they just kept asking us to reduce price.

Not one of the sales people had manors, they never kept us up to date, they were without morals.

    Horrible company!
  • Ok, this is an update from me. Today I gave Reeds Rains their required 2 weeks notice that I am withdrawing my instruction to sell the property. For me, going with Reeds Rains has been a waste of 6 months. I have had just 4 viewings in that time. Whenever I have contacted them to see how things are going, I have usually been told that someone is due to view the property, it was always the case that the person didn`t show up.
At the start, I made it clear that I would not be using their chosen solicitor, so I don`t think they tried very hard to sell my property.
I have 2 weeks to find a fresh estate agent. If anyone has any advice for me, please feel free to post a reply. :)
