Is anyone else being pushed into choosing Reeds Rains conveyancing services?

Reeds Reins estate agents are pure rubbish for buyers too.
I put an offer on the property which was quite desirable location for me so I was willing to pay extra 25K over the asking price.
They called me after 2 days to go to the branch to show the proof of funds etc etc which I did. Their mortgage advisor was either incompetent or he thinks people do not have the access to the internet to do simple mortgage comparisons. The rates he was trying to get us sign up to were plain ridiculous. When we said that we actually have DIP then he started to show us more sensible options. After 1.5 hours of wasting our time we concluded that they cannot give us better rate from what we already have!!!!
2 more days passed and we asked what the update was in regards to our offer and whether it was accepted or not. They told us that our offer had been passed to the seller and they were waiting for the response.
3 more days passed and we called whether the seller decided or not. They told us that seller was only interested if we did our mortgage and solicitors in house. They told us the offer would not be considered at all if we did not do that and this was the ONLY thing before the offer was accepted. The branch manager actually said this, it was not even implied! After thinking about it we decided we would do it as properties in that location are rare. We were obviously surprised by sellers decision to pressure us into LSL mortgage and their solicitors.
The next day we called only to find out from a junior person in the office that the seller was not even aware of offers we made. Once they got our agreement on mortgage only then they were planning to tell the seller about the offer. We confronted the three people we've been dealing with and they did not even answer why they lied. They told us that property was 99.99% ours since we agreed on their service terms and they just needed to inform the seller. I already was not happy being pressured into something I was not comfortable with and after finding out that they were VERY DISHONEST I withdrew my offer. I was thinking that if they lied so much at this stage I was most certainly going to get screwed later too. I get that EA-s trying to sell their services but not to the point that they are jeopardising offers and lying not only to the buyers but to the sellers too.
We lost so much time with them but I can only feel sorry for the seller as they lost healthy £25K over asking price and a buyer with all their finances already sorted. Perhaps you too are one of them? Perhaps your seller needs too were put after their need to push the in-house business? Perhaps you too could not sell your property because buyers were not comfortable with the fact that seller had preferred service agreement to sell the house? I would not be surprised if you were!
Reeds Rains are the most incompetent, most unprofessional, most aggressive & rude, most unethical estate agents I have ever come across. Basically they are liars. They are trying to push their services onto buyers by lying that sellers would ONLY accept offer if all was done in house, meanwhile poor sellers are completely unaware that good offers are made on their properties and estate agents are wasting everyone's time. Even if I see that house now with another estate agent I still will not go for it due to so much negativity I now have associated with it.
p.s. the people we've been dealing with are greedy sales manger, rude senior negotiator, incompetent mortgage adviser and crocodile in training junior agent.
p.p.s. I am going to create a free google site after my house hunt is over and I am going to put their details in the internet for other buyers to read what sort of scum they are dealing with.0 -
hi blogger, forgive me if i am missing something(it is early) but if the house you were willing to pay £25,000 over the asking price, was ideal for you and in the right location, why didn't you just pop round to see the seller or at least drop a note through their door?Corduroy pillows are making headlines! Back home in London now after 27years wait! Duvet know it's Christmas, not original, it's a cover.0

I understand that it is a bit unprofessional thing to do but hey I did it anyway. I went to the house myself twice and no one answered. The second time I was there I was told that old lady who lived there passed away and the person who inherited the house is selling it via Reeds Rains. Neighbour did not know the whereabouts of the only daughter she had except the fact that she does not live in London. I even checked the land registry to get her full name but she has very common English name and it will take me ages to find her daughter with no guarantee of success ...0 -

I haven't been pushed into choosing them. But I DID choose them (as did the buyer), because I thought that this would speed up the process, because they would be better at communicating with the relevant parties.
NOPE.
I could have done it faster and better myself.
