O/S Daily Tuesday 26th February This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

Morning Halight and all,
Sorry your still having pain in your knees Halight. I have pain in my knees too due to fluid retention due to the medication i am on for my BP. I'm ok going up steps but find it very painful coming down.
Hoping for a good day here. Yesterday hubby sensed i needed some space so he was down the shed for most of the afternoon and evening sorting out the stuff he's going to stick on Eb*y. He forgets i wouldnt need any space if he's stop snapping and growling (and quit moaning about how screwed up the UK is). Ive heard it a million times before and i dont want to hear it any more! He's got another day in the shed ahead of him so i'm told and i'm hoping that some of the excess stuff in the house that he has gathering dust will be got rid of soon.
Wonders will never cease. I made him chips last night (he hates chips) and he didnt have indigestion, he didnt moan either (he had no one to moan at as i was upstairs). Looks like feeding him more stuff he doesnt like from now on.:rotfl:
Jobs for me today:
Vacuum down
Dust upstairs and down
Bathroom
Laundry
Southern fried chicken for tea (though i'm not sure what else)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Morning all,
First, Halight I have a similar problem to you. Pain and insomnia. Last night I was so shattered that I took 35mg of Amitryptaline. I am prescribed it for my MS nerve pain, but it knocks you out too. Didn't wake until 6.45. Don't take it every day, just when I need it, so maybe you could ask for some from your GP.
Don't know how Dad is yet, will ring later.:o I hope he rallies with the antibiotics, but it's a case of wait and see. He's got over things before.
Got a BP check with the practice nurse today, bet she moans at me!:rotfl:
YS lunch and dinner for me today. Chicken wrap for lunch. 74p and chicken tika masala dinner sor £1.69 instead of £3.50, result!:T
Have a good day!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning all. Rainy and foggy here today.
had an appt with the asthma nurse yesterday which was all a bit of a shock............asthma is ok, but weight is much much worse than I thought. I knew I had put on a bit, but it's disgraceful. As I usually go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week it has to be that I am eating too much. So smaller plate, much less butter and cheese and we will see if that works. no wonder my clothes are feeling tight, I genuinely thought they had shrunk (DUH!).
My son's nasty neighbour has made a formal complaint about him living in his new bungalow. My son had a challenging time about a week ago and threw 2 glass jars over the fence into the neighbours garden. now fair enough I know that is wrong, but we are doing everything we can to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen and given some of the things the neighbour has said about my son (that my son heard) it's damn lucky it was only 2 jars over the fence. Just cos my son has verbal communication problems doesn't mean he doesn't understand! So long story short we have had to do a 'best interests' and set up a protocol that if my son is upset staff have the power to lock him into his house. I had to sign it and feel terrible about it, but agree with the manager that it is better than losing the tenancy. Wehave apologised (of course) to the nieghbour and been round to clear the mess up (he wouldn't allow that), manager has visited him and explained what we are doing to stop it happening again, but he is still not happy and wrote the letter of complaint to the letting agent. Now as it is part of my son's tenancy agreement that he isn't a nuisance to neighbours this is a big deal. So this afternoon I need to draft a letter to the housing association, setting out what the neighbour has done to my son that has contributed to the situation. I totally understand that hte neighbour has every right to be hacked off and that what my son did was wrong and i'm really sorry and saddened that it happened, but wish he would cut my son some slack and try to understand his autism and learning difficulties. this is the 2nd such incident in 6 months, my son is not a noisy neighbour, quite the opposite.
Thank you for letting me get that off my chest!
Today it's gym time, then work, then this afternoon a trip to the cinema to see 'Cloud Atlas'.
dinner will be turkey fajitas, lunch will be ????? ice cream at the cinema probably!!!!
Hugs to all.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Halight - hoping you can get comfortable and sort the pain out soon x
Cloudy, overcast here this morning.
DH up and off to early stupid early.
Dinner last night was small joint of roast pork, mash, carrots, brussels, braised red cabbage, broccolli, green beans and gravy, was impressed with the meat (it was part of the pack I bought from the butcher). Definitely decided that meat for this household will be coming from the butchers from now on! Scary the problems within the meat industry are rumbling along with new problems still being discovered - obviously a much bigger and deeper problem than was first thought, seems this has been going on for years! Tonights dinner is roast chicken, thinking I will make a potato bake to go with it for a change, broccolli, carrots, stuffing, gravy and yorkshires. May make a dessert or we have 1 xmas pud still in the cupboard.
Was reasonably productive yesterday - did manage to get to next town early and managed to get a dress for the dinner from the reduced rail, also bought some costume jewellery to go with it so actually spent less for the whole outfit than I expected to pay for the dress alone! Also managed to organise 2 x Mothers day prezzies and 1 x sis's birthday prezzie, bro already has his as I had organised that so he could have it and take it home when they were here last weekend. Also went to car dealership and organised 1 x key fob but the other one is broken (that's why it won't work!!) and needs replacing - to get a replacement and get it programmed to our car - it will cost £172! We do need to get one though but haven't ordered one yet. Also got all the ironing done and one last load in the WM - will get that dry in the TD today. Put oven cleaner in the oven last night so need to clean that off this morning. Also went to the bank with papers for DH and they can't accept them from anyone else except DH - they only open 9.30 to 4.30 in our town and not on a Saturday, they didn't seem to know what to do with the papers either, so have emailed our contact to get some further information. So am reasonably pleased with what jobs I got done - didn't get loads done but made a good start - although the flylady list hasn't been touched but today's plan is to really get stuck in to yesterday's and today's tasks and get as near to all jobs on the list completed.
Keep safe and well x

Morning chums and <<hugs for those in pain and discomfort>>
I woke early although I didn't have to as its DDs day off today so she does the school run.She works every other Saturday and so on alternate weeks gets a Tuesday off.So I thought I'd have a lie in this morning.no such luck I wake up bang on 6.00. as I do every day including the weekend I'd love to just be able to turn over and nod off again, but I'm one of those folk who once my eyes are open I am up and about.Definitely a morning person .Althjough it makes no differance what time I go to bed I still wake at 6.00 like clockwork. It could be worse I suppose as when I first retired in 1995 I woke at 5.00 every day I was so accustomed to doing it for work, I still do sometimes in the summer, which is nice as there is nothing nicer than an early start in mid summer.Lets hope we get a decent one this year.
Looking out of my computer room window its looking quite foggy as I can't see the River medway as usual so another soggy damp day by the looks of things.
DD is coming this morning after the school run to wade though my junk jewellery as I said she can have a rummage and anything she wants she can have as I rarely wear it much now.She loves chunky bits and bobs and I know there are bits she would be happy with.My eldest DD Shelley isn't bothered as she said Tessa will get more use out of it than she ever would.
No shopping this week for me to get as I am still wading through my freezer.I got some diced beef out last night, so my SC is going on today and I will make a big beef and veg stew I think, and portion up what I have left over for another day.I love thick gloopy stew on a cold day.
Right time for a jolt of coffee I think to get my motor going
Have a great day everyone whatever you are doing
Take care
