Yes, acetone remover is still available - look for the cheap 99p stuff rather than the "better" ones which tend to use kinder alternatives.

For the record, no I don't use nail varnish but acetone is a minor ingredient in the clock cleaning solutions which I use in my work and the cheap nail stuff is about the cheapest way to buy it in small quantities :)

An alternative is CD or tape head cleaning fluid (isopropyl alcohol) which will also dissolve most marker inks

We use that at work it will clean almost anything off, but didnt know how to suggest the OP get it in a small quantity

OP hope you read the coshh sheet for WD40 before use

I would second the suggestion of trying a dry wip marker.

Works on school white boards when the "clever ones" use permanent markers. (never tell them how i removed the marker though, us caretakers need to keep an air of mytery about our methods)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

I eventually got the marker off with WD 40 and acetone based nail varnish remover - no doubt a concoction to send the COSHH boys into the vapours. Literally!

It's nice to be able to glance into the mirror and see what's behind me instead of reading the make/model of the car :)
