I had a horrible spendy day yesterday and it was all on groceries  We just seemed to need everything and I blew my budget out of the water :o
On the positive side, my cupboards and freezer are fit to burst so I refuse to buy anything but fresh stuff until everything is used up
Have a great Sunday everyone. Happy Mother's day :A:A
Too bad about the spendy day.:mad:I hope that you can go for a while before topping up.

My Mum is of the opinion that all this getting cards, chocolates or flowers malarky is basically a big swiz in order to get us to spend loads of dosh needlessly. We have always been actively encouraged to ignore Mother's Day and the like.
Am I in a minority?0 -

Yes :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I am still patiently awaiting my children to arise, make me a cup of coffee, shower me with gifts, walk the dogs and bash on with the houseworkThink I might be waiting a while :rotfl:

Marmite - Your mum sounds like a very astute lady and is right, Mother's day is just a big commercial swindle. Along with Father's Day, Valentine's day and all the other bloomin days they have come up with
I don't expect anything different from my kids today than any other day. We make sure we know we love each other with hugs and doing nice things for each other every single day of the year..................still.........a cup of coffee would be nice :rotfl:Free by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
Morning everyone
Well after my (ahem, cough) hangover yesterday on two glasses of wine (yes, I know I am a lightweight), I have been up early trying to catch up on my housework. Washing in the machine, washing up done, cat litter changed, dusting done and all before 9 am. Still more to do so won't hang around for too long. So much for a restful and relaxing mother's day but all my own fault really.

Marmite, no, you are not in the minority. This is why we take mum out for a meal now because she doesn't buy into the idea of spending on inflated prices for flowers and chocolates. I am the same with my own daughter.
Spoon, if they don't sell again this time, I will relist every time there is a free listing. Eventually, they've got to sell right?
Freeby, sorry to hear of your spend day yesterday. I can definitely vouch that a hangover is a good cure for not spending but not sure I recommend it!Thanks for updating.
Have a lovely day today.

Haven't beaten my record of 5 days in a row but then there haven't been enough days lol. Friday was a spend day, I spent £13 on my mum on a lovely photo frame and a card, personally I think it's a load of old tosh but my mum looks after my children while I work and saves me a lot of money, in fact I because of my long shift pattern I wouldn't be able to do my work so she's definitely worth the spend day.
I won't have a spend day until Tuesday, which is shopping day and when I will get any extra bits we might need.0 -
I have sent my mum a card for mothers day, just a card of something she likes and I have written a message and if I was seeing her today I would of taken her a small gift either home made or a book.
I don't want my own children to buy into the consumerism of the day but them doing something to show they (and their dad appreciate me) like a cup of tea in bed or a homemade cake or a card or picture they have made, last year they made some delicious truffles. This year a carrot cake & breakfast in bed and they will have tidied up after themselves
Today will be NSD # 5Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
