Aldi more expensive and quality declining?

Wanting potatoes, I first looked in Tesco and they were rubbish. I wouldn't have been able to eat more than half of them. So I thought I'd check out Aldi and they were even worse. I am therefore having chips tonight and frozen roast potatoes at the weekend.
Packs of small salad potatoes and Charlottes have gone up 40% in the last few weeks and quite honestly I wouldn't even have wanted them if they were being given away.0 -
Funny you saying that. Hubby has been saying that for weeks. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I have recently found Aldi about hit and miss in terms of quality for fruit and veg. You have to carefully look at the packs to make sure that there is no bad 'uns' in the pack. I have also noticed the fruit seems to go off quicker so tend to stick everything in the fridge. There super six offer seems to have declined in recent months and they provide very small packs of things. This has included a very small punnet of grapes which frankly my daughter would have eaten one sitting and Jersey potatoes which at best served two people. Not sure whether this is to do with poor crop yields/costs as result of weather as you can see big swathes of farmland round here which got flooded in the winter.0

I only buy my fruit + veg from Aldi + I'm quite pleased with it... It might just be that when you do your shopping, there hasn't been a delivery for a couple of days so you're getting stuff that's been lying around going off??
I would suggest finding out when they get their new deliveries in and pitch your shopping for either that afternoon or the next morning, that's what I do and it's worked quite well up til nowBroke Student :beer:0 -

Will never buy again from Aldi
. satsumas and their cousins
. kiwis
. plums
all were inedible for various reasons
Once had the joy of eating a ready meal and threw it out as it contained 2.5g of salt. I could taste was salt.0 -
I shop more in aldi than I did 5 or so years ago, compared to somewhere like Tesco I think Aldis price increases have been minor and Ive never had any issues with the quality of the food I buy.
I prefer it to Lidl as well.0 -
There isn't an Aldi near me, so I have never shopped there, but I note that the motoring forums, here and elsewhere on the internet, are buzzing with rage at Aldi's decision to allow the company that 'manage' their car parks to actually issue court summons to drivers who have parked their cars for a few minutes longer than the allotted 90 minutes. This is on top of illegally attempting to fine drivers £100 or so for the same offense, some of whom are elderly or infirm, or are late back to their car because they have small kids with them. (There is no such thing as a 'fine' for parking on private land).
Just a heads up to those of you who drive to Aldi. This is a company, who rather uniquely among UK Supermarkets has decided that it will prosecute its own customers for shopping in its own stores. I believe there is about to be a BBC program about this.0 -
Are you sure that isn't Lidl - the private parking enforcement signs have been up for a while.
More generally...
a) these private parking "fines" are presently unenforceable.
b) not all Aldi/Lidl car parks are owned by them.
edit:
and c) now that I think about it, I've seen loads of threads about people getting private parking tickets in various supermarkets. So the idea that Aldi (or is it Lidl) are "unique" is nonsense.0 -
I am not talking about parking tickets. I am talking about County Court Summons being issued to Aldi customers who have received 'unenforceable' private parking fines.
