3 Mobiles "Superfast" network

Three are touting a new system, which if I understand it, offers higher 3g speeds in many areas, although one would have to have a "suitable" handset. They are offering a limited range of handsets mostly on contract. Sorry but I am not going to try and be too technical, I do not have the skills. Wondering about giving it a go, the main deterrent is the hassle of getting decent customer service, especially a PAC number from them? Have we got any views about this please?

I find Three's 3G to be fast, although the phone and internet signal can be unavailable indoors. I suggest checking the postcode of your home and work (or other places you plan to use it most) on the main network websites to see which ones give the best signal.

Getting the PAC later may infuriate you, feel free to add some comments later to my other thread on that if you do try to leave them!

Are you on about HSDC+ where the handset uses two chanels?

Isn't that article just about 4G anyway, and the fact they won't charge extra when they roll it out?


I think what you are talking about is DC-HSDPA.

Yes looks like I got my terminology confused, ULTRAFAST is what i meant, eg DC-HSDPA

Thats what I was on about , uses two chanels, my mate on 3 says he regularly gets 7mbs d/l my O2 varies between around 1.6mbs and 4mbs but is adequate for my handset usage.

i use an ipad for work on 3 network and find it poor in all honesty especially in built up areas and no service signal indoors

I get 11+ more often than not...

I moved from O2 to Three Mobile around a month ago.

Unbelievably with the same handset I find the signal better in more areas than I had with O2. Also customer service to date has also been excellent. :-)

I use 3UK on my iPad and it has been excellent - no issues, good price as the competitors don't even come close. ALL networks suffer congestion to a greater or lesser extent - to it will always be a lottery, depending on when and where you use it. That said, the DO appear to have the capacity as advertised.
