Need to get away

I've been struggling a lot lately and after getting to crisis point a few days ago, I've decided I need some time out, I want to get away for the weekend on my own but I have no idea where to go!

I won't have a car so will need to get their and back by public transport and be somewhere I can easily move around and do things on foot.

I've tried looking for Solo holidays but they mostly seem aimed at 35+ and I'm 24, I've got no issues going on something like that but I don't know if they'd let me go.

I'd like to be somewhere I could meet and chat to new people and just be myself for a few days.

Does anyone have any ideas?

My budget is around £200. I don't eat much (Gastric Bypass) so I could probably get away with no or very small food costs.

I have no idea, I thought city because there might be more to do, but I don't think it would be relaxing... I wondered about going to London or somewhere similar city wise as there is Museums and Markets but I wouldn't know where to stay and the last time I went to London alone I was in the middle of a psychotic break and was sectioned... I think I may be banned lol!

EDIT: I am based in Hull

Could you stay in a hostel in London? That way you could meet other people about your age? Musuems are free. Or see if you can get a cheap flight to somewhere like Dublin and do the same?

What about Hexham, that is lovely. Busy but quiet and not too far.

I defintely recommend staying in a hostel wherever you go. Just do your research on trip advisor. I find staying in hotels depressing as you never get to meet people.

Edinburgh or London would be good. How about Amsterdam or Paris or Madrid?

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • Why not go to Whitby or Scarborough, the hotels are cheap (about £30 a night) There are loads to do and they're a couple of hours by coach up the coast.

Any coach tours in your local area? Maybe advertised in a local paper orsomething, although they may not fit your budget.
Have you got a tourist information centre where you are? they may some ideas of things that aren't far,far away but far enough away to feel like you are away (ie other side of the county or something).
    Best of Luck finding something.

Edit: maybe bed and breakfasts or a travelodge would be good?
Also have a look on the visit Hull website: http://www.visithullandeastyorkshire.com/ perhaps one of the towns/places nearish to you would tempt you but be far enough away?

  • Youth hostels are great, and more likely to have sociable people.
And I don't think London holds the last time against you. :D

I always use to go away on coach trips when I was early 20s, i was usually the youngest on the coach, but I made friends with people on the coach and you have excurisons so you can see places, but still have time to yourself. try local coach firms.

I'm Midlands based - travelled London, York, a few trips to Scotland, leeds, - i use to love it, - the open road, but someone else doing the driving. People mix, but you get your time.

I'm useless with directions and locations, - know your up North and to the right but are you far from Blackpool, - theres been some good offers on, I looked at advert- ukbreakaways - it was £99 for 4 ngts half board - seafront hotel.

Hope you get a noce break sorted out xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
