Sainsburys are selling 630ml bottles of Fairy liquid for £1 each. It took me a little while to find them as they were on the bottom shelf. There were lots of other slightly smaller bottles (433ml) also for £1.

Cheapest isn't always the best. I like this one, last time I bought was less than 60p and the bottle has lasted me over 18 months with plenty left:

It's Aldi's for me. Lasts me about 2 or 3 weeks.

Good tip, when running the hot water, just run the tap over the cap of the bottle when it's got green gunk on it. Makes the bottle last longer as you get great suds out of the gunk without squirting.

We swore by the W5 stuff from Lidl but decided we wanted to be a bit more eco-friendly. Switched to Ecover washing up liquids and buy on offer. Last about 6 weeks which is good considering that I'll do two lots then OH will do another after dinner.

When people say oh but one bottle lasts me..... I'm thinking do they have a dishwasher ? We don't (yet).

Still got half the bottle left of Asda's finest that I bought last September :D

I don't have a dish washer, wish I had but that would mean having a new kitchen fitted to accommodate it.

I don't have a dishwasher, unless you count OH.

  • I like the aldi magnum one best - it lasted ages, cleaned very well and even my solemn flatmate asked where I had bought it as it was so good! Once it gets low I top up with a splash of water and lasts at least another week,

Not very keen on the morning fresh I had to emergency buy the other day, first and last time!
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:

Don't even bother trying Tescos Daisy. Even putting in twice as much as usual, it's still useless. Definitely a false economy :(

It might be that you're washing up more often rather than other people using dishwashers. Because you only need a small squeeze for a sink full it's very hard to squeeze out just what you need for just a few pots. Therefore if you wash up as you go rather than letting a sink full pile up you'll use a lot more.

Personally I do one lot of washing up every 3-4 days (I live in a shared flat where we all do our own). As a result I'm only half-way through a 500ml bottle of Persil my Mum gave me when I moved in back in mid-September, whereas a flatmate who washes everything straight away has gone through several bottles of Fairy in that time.
