Hello all,

As the title says I am after your thoughts on the cheapest washing up liquid. I seem to go through alot of it. I want to stock up so prepaid to buy lots, Please start your response with:

- Product name
- Price
- Amount/volume
- Where

The best buy I ever got was a few months back:

- Prestene Clean
- 99p
- 5 litres
- 99p store

I think it was a end of line stuff as the liquid is no longer being stocked. I wish i bulked buy as it does the job.

Any suggestions????

  • I went in Iceland about 4 months ago and they had 2 big bottles of washing up liquid (own brand) for £1. Dont know the size of the bottle or if theyre even still stocking it but it lasted us a fair while.

Lidl had some yesterday - it's 59p/bottle but it's concentrated. It says W5, Ultra Conctrated, does 250 lots of washing up. Probably 500ml.

The other W5 ones are the same price, but not concentrated.

Tesco are selling a 1.2l bottle of Fairy for £2 at the minute. Maybe not the cheapest but we find it better value for money in terms of how much you have to use.

yep. :) could have been longer ago than 4 months I guess.
I'm down that way tomorrow, could pop in and see if they're still stocking it if you like? :)

The difference between cheap and expensive washing up liquid is down to how much of the liquid you buy is just water.

You can buy an expensive brand and dilute it down or buy a pre-mixed cheap one and save yourself some time.

Those of higher concentration become really expensive when the user squirts in the same amount of the liquid as they would if they were using a cheap brand. Probably cheapest option is to use a cheap brand to avoid the over-slurping of the expensive stuff.
