You lot are so funny. Im astounded by what I’ve heard from some of you. How would any of you like it if you lived next door to a crazy man who puts his foot down on the accelerator because he thinks its all right to test his car in a residential area. A fool who litters our street with car contents and sensitive documents from various new cars that he cleans to sell. Like Dr prescriptions, bank details, telephone bills, Tax disks and many others. I bet you would call him somewhat more then just a Polish pudding, lol. Does he sound like decent UK citizen or someone who would reveal his income.
Another thing if there was a problem and you heard five or so men speaking a foreign language, would you not try to guess and suggest a country. My nuisance neighbor and his dodgy looking mechanic friends spoke Polish on my doorstep and I think it has a lot to do with my complaint when I spoke to the police and had to described them. – There are many rich folks around, what do I care. Same as for him, if he didn’t involve me in his hectic car dealer life. So now I have the right to complain when he is home all day fixing cars on my days off, or he is out joy riding with his family and the rest of the country are working hard.
I came here for advice and not affection, or because I am jealous of my neighbor as someone here suggested. Advice because I am being disturbed and I cannot enjoy my home because this is nuisance bordering harassment, until I complain to the council and it only stops for a while. Then starts again with vengeance and this repeats - do you get it. That’s because our system is to lenient. “2 years to get it stopped” “it’s the law its not the council” - my foot
But I do want to say thank those who advised me well here, and thanks to sweetpea26 and Brasso for your support and excellent response, it is much appreciated. Wish there was more people like you around.
And for those of you who have twisted this story. I am quite mortified with some of your reply’s. you really make me laugh, as I feel we are being laughed at by those who abuse our system, and wee mortals end up paying the price, because you lot get distracted and very busy because someone used the wrong word, and you end up loosing sight.
And No mrsb you are not a vigilante as Im not a VINDICTIVE BIGOT . Im just a humble person who pays his taxes and want something done about a problem that Im facing in my residential area. Thank you.0 -

What exactly does this mean - the fact that they are speaking a foreign language "has a lot to do with my complaint"????
If they were conducting their discussions in English it wouldn't bother you so much??0 -
Are you saying Polish law is based on English Law?
What you imagine is irrelevant to my comment.
If you bothered to read my earlier post you would note that I support the OP's efforts to avoid being subjected to nuisance practices from his neighbours. I was simply stating a plausible reason why the OP might think the fact that his neighbour is Polish was relevant despite the comment that it was not in the post I was responding to.0 -
I think the OP just wants to be told that he is right and get some advice...in fact he has missed the point entirely that many of us have advised him to make as many complaints and chase them up as much as he can. However, on a personal level I have also suggested that he omit the Polish side of his argument because it doesn't make a difference to his suspected criminal activity - if, for example. he is acting outside of the law - he isn't more of a criminal because he wasn't born here. I have said from my very first post that you should follow up your suspicions and report them...not actually that different from Brasso etc except I believe that his nationality has squat to do with being a criminal (or not) and I think that by including info about his nationality it made it seem that you thought that counted against him (which in Brasso's and your case etc it seemingly does). And that, unfortunately, is a somewhat biggoted view.
And so what if they are speaking their own language - they are talking to eachother - it is easier!!!!0 -
i am also having a similar problem. my neighbour has been doing car repairs on the side of the road for over 24 years; we purchased our property not knowing he was a potential problem because the vendor failed to declare.
i also feel sympathy for you; some of the responses i've had have been downright appalling and nasty; not only what my neighbour is doing is totally illegal, but as my councillor said there is also the possibility he is committing benefit fraud; something she is going to look into!!
have you ever though of contacting your local councillor?
as he is private rented he doesn't have a much rights, so he should be easily evicted.
your local councillor would be able to give you help and advice; mine has been brilliant!!
i would also contact your local safer neighbourhood team who are either based the your local council department or contact your local beat officer at the nearest police station.
good luck and keep us informed xx0 -
Hello SPELLKASTER
Im so glad you are getting it sorted out. Im in the same situation it wasn’t declared to me either. You just dont know who you are buying next too. We pay for searches and rely on solicitors.
Thoughtlessness appalling and nasty; comes in various forms sweetie – not just from nuisance neighbours. Some of the replies I got are from self made PC vigilantes who sound like trouble makers and who try to impose on peoples posts making out they are being helpful to society but in reality they will find anything to put you down and turn people agains you. They want to win brownie points like a bunch of kids. the sad lot.. Don't worry about them or there opinion, just ignore them. We came here for advice! Not to get involved in arguments.
The good news is I met some nice folks on here who have been very helpful and I am taking their advice and yours of course to go to visit my councillor and will speak to all relevant authorities as well.
and yes my neighbour is a tenant but he has the backing of his landlord who seems, greedy and just wants his rent so he is not bothered what the tenant does. As I was told by the tenant himself. His property was advertised as house with very very large garage. So matie boy and his gang have taken over the outside of his house and mine as well, until I make noises, it cools down then starts up again after a while.
The police are keeping an eye on my property but I do understand there hands are tied, and of course unless the neighbor attacks me because he has threatened me about trying to disrupt his business before.
I will keep you updated.0 -

.
I think you should ignore what the neighbour says about his landlord's attitude. Firstly the landlord may not take this view and evict the tenant. Even if he does not care, if you can contact the landlord and register your complaint he is legally obliged to declare the dispute with a buyer if he wants to sell the house.
As I said in an earlier post, you can apply on line and for £4 get a copy of the land register entry. It may tell you that the landlord has a mortgage (a charge on the property) in which case the mortgage provider may not be pleased that the place is being used to run a business if its a residential mortgage. Equally the owner many not have declared the house is being let, in which case he might be obliged to repay the mortgage immediately and need to take a higher mortgage for non-residential purposes.
Also, remember the landlord is the one who may need planning permission to run some types a business from his property. As you say he advertised it as a house not a business premises.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
OP - have you also checked whether there are any specific property covenants forbidding certain businesses from being operated from the premises?0
