Is my neighbor committing benefit fraud
Comments
-
To start with he must be on some housing benefits, how else can one afford to pay for that rent without working full time? He is not only servicing other peoples cars, he is buying luxury cars fixing them and selling them. As a private seller.
You may say its speculations but this is what we have witnessed
If anything the partner is working part time (low income) so we think he is supposed to be looking after the kids, but in reality he is working on cars all day. The police who come to my house to see how I am are also questing this.
I hope you have a detailed diary of everything you have witnessed.
Council departments tend not to act on complaints because the people who complain don't provide enough evidence that can be used in court.
Go see you local councillor as already suggested and take a copy of your diary with you.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I purchased a house and an aggressive Polish neighbor rents a property for a £1000pm next door, and he is unemployed, well he doesn’t go to work officially. I know because he is at home all the time working on different cars for the past year on his driveway. It’s a non stop business, he’s had over 40-50 cars that I’ve seen.
I tried being nice and told him he was disturbing me, but he was not interested and became aggressive.
He buys, fixes and sells cars right from my front door. He trespasses on my driveway with his friends and customers. Litter, unnecessary Exhaust fumes & engine revs/running for hours, bonnets open all day. Doors slamming, His full time presence near my window is really effecting me and I am so stressed and sick of it.
The council are not doing anything really, they write to him, he stops for a week then starts again. His landlord doesn’t care and will not answer my mail. I do have cctv footage
What could I do?
How much would an injection cost? truthfully is the injection effective or can that be ignored too? because this guy is not the worried about anything type. He just doesn’t care.
I’m furious because this guy is laughing at our system and he seems to be getting away with it.
I would appreciate any advice
This guy seems like a real lowlife. The well educated Polish people are generally very nice, but the 'hobbits' are as bad any native UK chavs and often worse.
Report the guy and keep reporting him. Never stop. Talk to the CAB before you consider any legal action as lawyers charge even for an initial chat.0 -
If you already complained to the council, complain again. Show them your video footage.First Time Buyer: Mortgage Offered, Searches complete, Exchanged 21/12/2012, Completion 04/01/2013! :beer:0

To be honest I think you put a lot of people's back up by the simple fact that you felt the need to say that your neighbour was Polish...it just isn't something that matters unless you have some sort of predjudice (something 'most' people detest). If you take that away from your OP then it is a bit easier to want to help you...
As said above, if you feel that something is amiss then report it, and be methodical and consistant in your reporting. Ensure you get responses from the different agencies that you are complaining to and if you get told that there is nothing wrong with his behaviour then leave him be...if there IS something illegal going on then THEY will deal with it. BUT DON'T, AT ANY POINT, SPECIFY THAT HE IS POLISH IN YOUR COMPLAINT - IT MAKES YOU COME ACROSS AS A SPITEFUL, VINDICTIVE BIGOT (and I'm sure that's not the case is it?).0 -

I would suggest you might be answering this yourself by ...He is not only servicing other peoples cars, he is buying luxury cars fixing them and selling them. As a private seller.
All very likely illegal, but not evidence of benefit fraud. Although if he is that disregarding of the law, I doubt benefit fraud would pose a moral obstacle to him.Favours are returned ... Trust is earned

I feel more sympathy towards the OP than some on here, for sure. It's easy to moralise about how he should be accommodating to the neighbour, but I doubt if any of us would want a person like this living next door with all the noise and smells and trespassing.
And I don't think anyone is claiming that all businesses run from home are illegal, but for a business like this, being run outside the home, and with a high nuisance value and hazardous goods (petrol, oil, paint etc) there wil be very stringent regulations.
The stuff about depriving his children is outrageous emotional blackmail. Look, it's really simple. If the guy wants to be a self-employed car mechanic and trader, good for him, but he has to find suitable premises. It's not the OP's problem if the guy is unwilling to obey the law.
As for him being Polish (or any other economic migrant from anywhere), I do think this is relevant. If someone moves to the UK to start a new life for their family (if this is what he has done) then as a very minimum they should be willing to comply with the law and be a decent neighbour. If he is unwilling to accept those conditions, he can go somewhere else. If that is horribly un-PC then tough. Why should we make allowances for anti-social behaviour just because someone is non-British?"I don't mind if a chap talks rot. But I really must draw the line at utter rot." - PG Wodehouse0 -
Look Im not a great writer, so thank you brasso you took the words right out of my mouth.
and you think what you want MRSB but I am not biased and I will not lower myself to that - how do you know I put a lot of people's backs up?
It’s a gang of Polish men, they are not English or Indian or any other. What harm have I done by saying that. You should see the harm he has put on me.
We have names to recognise each other, we come from different places of the world. I mentioned his place, what’s wrong with that?
I also spoke about the Polish neighbour - to my Polish friends, and to the Polish police officer that came to see me.. Non of them were offended. I don’t share your thoughts really.0 -

I wasn't suggesting that we make allowances for him...quite the opposite in fact. I think he should be treated completely equally...if he is committing an offence then he should be punished, if not he should be left alone. There is no need to specify that the guy is Polish because it doesn't make a difference. If you break the law then you deal with the consequences regardless of race/creed/religious beliefs/sexual orientation etc...ie all people are treated EQUALLY. (Oh if only this were the case...)0 -

I just don't understand why you would feel the need to state the fact...if I came on here and said 'my ginger/black/jewish/gay neighbour...' it wouldn't serve to strengthen my argument in anyway...it would just look as though I thought that was significant - which it wouldn't be.0 -

I think it would make some difference to me. You're right of course that we should all be equal under the law - and I hope we are.
But if a new neighbour is affecting the quality of my life, the fact that they've taken the decision to move from another country to benefit from a higher standard of living, but feel no qualms about behaving badly, is an aggravating factor. It makes it slightly more annoying."I don't mind if a chap talks rot. But I really must draw the line at utter rot." - PG Wodehouse0
