  • thanks for all the suggestions. To be blunt I felt so lousy after receiving the posts earlier I decided to leave. I really felt as if I'd been judged unfairly, as I said, apart from my mortgage, yes that is my mortgage and not our mortgage (dutr, see I am independent) I've never had any other credit and pay for everything I've ever had up front, with money that I earn not money that I sponge off the state. The phone in question was an iphone5 which granted I didn't need or particularly want but when you're told by someone whom you've had a long term relationship with they'll pay the money into your bank account each month, you have no reason to doubt them, and dutr by long term I mean several years. I really think that dutr is a bully and no, I won't be posting on any other wall regarding any other debts as I don't have any (other than, as already stated, my mortgage).
  • I have the essential house insurance and car insurance, which I shop around for to get the very best deal, have clothes that are in most cases at least 5 years old, no gym membership and I've done pretty well this week with groceries as I've eaten nothing. I don't go to the pub and shan't be going to the cinema or out for dinner any time soon. Do I really sound like a spend thrift? I think not!

Don't let the odd judgemental poster stop you asking for advice here, most are happy to give it without casting their 'holier than thou' judgements on you.

Anyhoo, I think you've shamed him by showing just how wrong his assumptions about you were.

If you are truly independant then face your responsibilities, it is not my fault or your ex's fault that you have purchased on credit this unnecessary lump of plastic and aluminium, and so the readers do not have to make it their problem, whether you want to run off from the suggestions offered is up to you, but the debt will remain unless you do something about it, perhaps Paul can pay the £43 a month for you, that way he demonstrates how caring he really is.
You dramatised earlier that you may lose your home for the sake of this mobile contract! Fixed term mortgage or not, have you considered that interest rates can rise?
Never mind at least you will have the coolest handset at the homeless centre.

When you are a little wiser, you will suspect the troll posts , wait for the next release of iphone and see how many suddenly have insurance claims and faulty iphones so they can have the latest offering. Houses are expensive to run but the lenders don't lend out to the point where the mortgage holder can afford nothing else, why not pay for the Op's contract if you really do care.
As you are not offering any advice that I or anybody else has not suggested ;)
  • dutr, you truly sound like a bitter and twisted person. I've sorted my problem out now, no thanks to you. A friend is delighted to be taking it on. I know I'll get over my situation and move on and be happy, unfortunately, for you, it sounds as if you're stuck being a nasty little bully for life.

Glad you sorted it, nothing to do with being bitter, if you are independant like you claim, then nobody should have to pick up the pieces for you. Yes you will get over your situation that I am sure, just remember in future think before making that comittment financially or romantically. People can tell you what you need to know, it seems you just want to read what you want to read or hear what you want to hear. If one takes out a 24 month commitment, then they will have to see it through as per the terms they agree to, that is not bullying, it is the truth! Have a joyous weekend.

Just be aware unless the friend goes through the relevant credit checks and officially takes over the agreement, then ultimately you are still liable for the bills.
