That sounds like quite an odd size, which could be your problem.
Also, make sure you get tyres cheap, as opposed to cheap tyres, if you know what i mean.0 -
Yes.. Tyres cheap ! The cheapest I have been quoted is £85 fitted for a budget tyre.0

Motorguy is correct. The problem is you have an obscure wheel size and therefore tyres are expensive as not many produced in that size. A premium tyre could set you back £140 each!!!. Blackcircles seem to be the cheapest for me or even Kwikfit online.0

If you want to buy online then
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/hotlinetyres/17-NEW-TYRES-/_i.html?_nkw=215%2F50%2F17&submit=Search&_fsub=2736754016&_sid=759786806
Then get fitted locally.
There's a similar place in manchester
Hotline Motorsports. on Ebay as "autorize" who have similar prices with free fitting.

£71 each with free fitting..how about that for some ditchfinders0 -
Try Asda for tyres, had a quick look at your size about £60 quid.
Enter reg or size that will give you price, then enter post code that will give you nearest garage to you that fit them.

What car is it? If a Vectra C, 225/45R17 is the usual replacement size0 -
Local independent is best bet.
Mine are 215 55 r16
Bridgestone turanza £96 each
Avon zv5 £86 each
Falken ze914 £74 each (have these now and they're really good)“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Inner Zone has given you the answer if you happen to have a Vectra, indeed a perusal of your handbook if you don't have a Vectra might show you an alternative anyway.
The problem here is that people do not check tyre sizes, nor much else it must be said, before buying , too late once you've bought that car fitted with 245/40 x 18's (not the case here) that you find a tyre worth fitting will set you back £150 each.
The internet makes this easy, an evenings research on a prospective car purchase is seldom time wasted.0
