Littlewoods Problems!!

My god.....
I am have serious problems with Littlewoods.. What a mistake starting an account with them......
I recently contacted Littlewoods asking them what was the lowest cash amount they would take to close the account... They said £500 witch i then paid and asked them to close the account witch they said they would do....
However last week i recieved a final demand from them for arreas on the account of around £100 although i thought the account was already closed.....
This has got me upset and stressed out as i fear my 'near good' credit rating is getting affected witch i have built up for the past 5/6 years....
I have no idea what to do because every time i contact Littlewoods they just come back with 'we will close your account when the balance is paid' and if i quote the reference numbers of emails they sent saying 'they will now close the account' and that 'the £500 payment had been received' they simply ignore it.
I have tried everything now and i am seriously considering paying the £100 just to stop all of this, but i don't and cant really afford too!!!
I also had a VERY account witch for some reason i had no problems closing, i understand they don't want to lose custom but this is getting beyond a joke and starting to cause unreal amounts of stress for me!!
Please help guys, THANKS!

Ask them for a statement to see where the extra £100 has come from?

Thanks Beanie,
I should of mentioned the total account balance was £600.... and they said i could pay it off for £500 and so im guessing this 'extra' £100 is the difference between the final balance and the agreed amount that they allowed me to pay to close the account.
Hope that makes sense...
I will also ask for a statement.
Thanks.0 -
Personally I would say that as you owe them the £100 then you should pay it.
Unless the £500 was agreed as a "full and final settlement" and clearly sent and received as such then you do still owe them the money.
There is a difference between closing an account and paying an account off. They may have agreed that they would close the account with a £500 payment which simply means you can no longer order through that account not that the outstanding balance is no longer owed.0 -
Okay this is what the emailed me.....
"Thank you for your e mail regarding a full and final settlement on the above account.
We confirm that we would accept the sum of £500.00 as a full and final settlement figure. If this is agreeable please respond within 28 days.
Your account will be closed once the payment has been applied to your account."
Hope you able to help..
Thanks

If you have this as proof, stop the phone calls, emails.
Write to them, enclose a copy of the email. Send it recorded delivery.
Keep copies of everything and stop stressing. You have the proof and are completely in the right.
If anything pops up on your credit report, you have the proof to get it removed.
Just a question, did yo actually respond and pay within the 28 days, if not it could be extra interest added. Ask them for an updated statement so you can check.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Okay thanks guys this is reassuring, so just to clarify the email above that they sent me should mean once i paid the £500 the account should have been closed and the balance cleared?
Thanks ill get a well worded document sent to them with all evidence...
Should i mention about getting it removed to them? or do i contact somebody else about that being removed?
Thanks so so much

This is the response i got......
"Please be aware that we cannot close your account until the outstanding balance has been cleared. To check the account balance please visit ‘my account’ at littlewoods.com"
Its almost like the Littlewoods customer service team enjoy taking the p!55 out of me and actually don't communicates with each other.....
Alot of the problem is probably because each time i email it goes to an INBOX in witch anybody at the customer service office can see and so anybody responds and nobody communicates so i get the same boring message back...

Have you written a letter as recommended by McNeff? You might get a better response if you drop the attitude, at the end of the day they are doing you a favour writing off £100.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
