I am sorry that I have not come back to you sooner. I have tried to do as you say but I seem to have created extra copies showing in the same place. WhenI open a folder the photo's are not there. I have dragged and dropped some photo's but I keep losing everything.
I have put them all on to DVD's so at least I have copies and the old photo's are now on my laptop. Don't always find them think I am stupid but I muddle on !
Thank you so much for all the help and advice you have given me. Sorry I am not up to it!!

Have a look at the link Toxteth has provided. It demonstrates cut, copy, paste/copy+paste for a folder but the same principles apply to individual or multiple files. - if you can stand the awful american words that go along with it. It always surprises me how many poor commentaries go along with you tube videos - but the words are correct.

When yours does not work it still sounds as if you are only copying and making a link/shortcut to the original files you wish to copy. This will happen if you use the mouse and left click to select the copy function. You need to use the right mouse button to do an actual file copy (rather than produce a link to those files) See if that solves your problem on a single file to confirm the technique, and if so you can then select multiple files.

An alternative to using the mouse is to use the keyboard, select the file(s) you wish to copy by highlighting them, press control and 'c' together (Ctl+c) to copy move to the folder you wish as destination and then press Ctl+v to paste them.

For both methods you should see a graphic showing the copy process and for a number of not small files this will take a while so should be clearly visible.

Thank you both for all your advice. My Grandson is going to sort it out for me. Once he shows me how to then I can do the rest; Thanks again for everything!
