How to transfer photo's on to CD when it says too many ?

I have a sony digital camera and I am wondering how to transfer some photo's I put on a couple of years ago.
The problem is that there are multiple photo's on that one folder. When I try to burn them to a CD it tells me that there are too many and it is not possible. Tells me to try something else but I don't know how to.
The reason I really am desperate is that they are some photo's taken of a friend whilst in Australia who now has dementia and nearing the end of his life. His wife and a lot of friends would like to have them I have posted some on Facebook also I put them on to my SIL laptop in AU and they just need my password to get access to them. I think that while there will be a fair no. Could anyone give me advice on how to put them on to a CD by either deleting some of them. don't want to lose them as there are a lot of my new born Granddaughter also important events of my Family. HELP
Would appreciate advice thanks !

Download irfan view.
use it to delete the duplicates and re-save the good ones at a re-sized option.
Very east to use, select save as jpg when saving at 95% quality and the picture data size will be halved with no noticeable loss of quality or image size.Be happy...;)0 -
Can't you use multiple CDs or a USB stick instead?0

Thanks for the reponses will give it a go!

Does it say there are too many files or they are too big in total size?
If it is the former (there would have to be many hundreds I would think), try reorganising them into folders and they may then go OK.
If the latter, then try the above suggestions to resize them and delete the duplicates/ones not worth keeping.
They probably just need organising. Bit of effort, but who would wade through hundreds of photographs, even if they are full of fond memories?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Use more than one CD.
Copy smaller numbers to each CD.
Think of it like pouring a gallon of milk into a number of pint bottles. You can't get it all in one bottle. You have to pour one, stop, then pour into another, until you've filled eight (?) pints with equal parts from the 1 gallon
Don't resize them to smaller sizes, as you'll lose quality, and you'll never get that quality back when resizing them larger again.0 -
Why not burn them onto a DVD instead of a CD? You'll get over 6 times as many onto that.0

Thanks for that I am trying to use CD but realised that photo's given to me are on a DVD not CD I need to buy some and will try it then I would like to thank everyone and I do hope that I will manage it one way or another.

As they are important you really need to be concerned first of all about making sure you have a master copy and backups - the camera's memory card is not the place to keep them. You should copy them from the card onto the computer's hard drive first. I'd like to hope you are already making backups of your data, in which case just include the photos in future backups.
However, I won't be surprised to discover you aren't doing this, so you could either take it as a nudge to start doing it now (preferably to at least one external hard drive, but to CD/DVD/USB drive at the least) or just make two copies of the photos on DVD for yourself plus any other copies you want for other people.0 -
I actually have them uploaded to both my desktop and also my laptop. However I will do as you advise and make DVD copies also just to be on the safe side. Again many thanks to all of you.

you could also send them via the web, eg skype, wetransfer, yousendit etc.!!
