I'm going to a job interview without a tie

What do you think about that?

That's right, I don't have a suit. I have smart shoes, trousers and shirt which will be clean, polished and ironed to perfection, but I have no tie.

The job position is driving for a creative company, I've studied the company employees and the dressing is very casual, and I will be on warehouse/driving duties and that won't require a suit.

I'm scared.

What employees wear is far far different to what potential employees wear

Always dress up. Better to be over dressed then under dressed!

Never go to an interview without a tie unless you definitely don't want the job.

In fairness, I know a university lecturer who got his lecturing job following an interview without a tie, but that is not a chance I would take.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that a tie is not essential for an interview. If you aren't used to wearing one then you will be uncomfortable and that's not what you want. My cousin never wore a tie and got a job so it didn't bother his employer.

I've never worn a tie for any of my interviews. In fact I've never worn a tie since school.

My take on this is that those who insist you should have a tie are mistaken in this instance. You have done your research and I think your decision is a bit bold, but I would say that with this particular employer your chances are better without a tie. More so if it is the Tesco £3 tie we are talking about.

My present job and the previous one I got wearing jacket and trousers - no suit. And I am fairly certain I would have got it without a tie too.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
